Man City to go through
No, this is not a prediction thread. This is only a thread counter-pointing what everyone here feels is done.
Aside from my prediction that United, Chelsea, and Lyon will go through.
My main prediction is that Man City will go through.
Napoli for all the Calcio fanatics are known chokers in these situations as I feel they will bottle it at the Madrigal against a team with a chip on their shoulder while Bayern are without not only Schwiensteiger, but Robben and of course the man who steps it up to the plate with Scwieni is gone, Toni Kross.
Taking that into account Napoli always choke in tight situations while Bayern look relatively humble when without Kross (especially the Steiger), I have the gut feeling that City will pull a USA at the Confed Cup and see themselves through.
City to win against Bayern, Villareal to edge it against Napoli.
not the most profound or original thread. But take it lightly.

So City is going to the Knockouts, right?
So Bayern have Müller, Kroos, and Piggy out, doesn't look good as well for Gomez and Robben.
They never were deep, but with neihter of Piggy or Kroos I just don't see them getting a single point in an away match.
So this might be bad news for Napoli.

Apparently Chelsea will to.
Plus, expect United to route Basel tomorrow

Re: Man City to go through
Does this change your idea in anyway Arq?
Manchester City’s hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League have been dealt a blow with the news that Napoli will be facing a weakened Villarreal team at the Madrigal on Wednesday night.
With the Spanish side struggling in the wrong half of La Liga and in with no chance of even finishing third in Group A to reach the Europa League, coach Juan Carlos Garrido has decided that he will rest key players against the Partenopei.
“We are in a recovery phase so we have to give some players a few minutes playing time to introduce them gradually into the team,” the Villarreal boss said during his pre-game press conference.
“We will field the players who are in the best condition, the ones who can last for 90 minutes.
“We will use this match to restore our players' confidence, and obviously to get strength for the rest of the season.”
Garrido’s decision is a blow for City, who need to defeat Bayern Munich and hope that Villarreal take at least a point off Napoli in order to pip the Serie A side to second in the pool.
Garrido, though, insists that the Yellow Submarine are determined to finish what has been an arduous campaign on a high.
“We have been in the strongest group in the history of the Champions League and we want to leave the pitch knowing that we have played quality football,” he claimed.
“We want to finish this race showing our strength and that, even with so many injured players, this team can still play the same brand of good football that everyone expect from Villarreal.
“We do not care what Manchester City and Napoli do; we want to play well and have the satisfaction of having beaten a great team.”

Cavani will make sure that doesn't happen and i don't think Villareal defense can stop him

Re: Man City to go through
Not only will Napoli beat Villareal, Bayern will also beat City.
Although Bayern are through, I can't see them letting up with their mentality- they usually try to win every game by the biggest margin possible, no matter what.
Napoli will beat Villareal because of the gulf in quality between the two sides, because the game is at home and because the game actually means something to Napoli, whereas Villareal can get nothing out of this.

Re: Man City to go through
Due to injuries and sickness our line-up is going to be:
Or the more conservative
Neuer
Rafinha-Van Buyten-Boateng-Contento
Lahm-Gustavo
Usami-Alaba-Ribery
Petersen

Made a similar thread. Bayern got too much injuries. City will walk this match, if they don't choke epically.

Re: Man City to go through
Yeah and no Kroos, Gomez, Robben, Müller... It'll be a tad sad, and City will probably pummel them
Then again, Heynckes is the far superior manager, so there's hope.

Don't Napoli go through if they beat Villareal? That seems likely at this point.

Re: Man City to go through
Napoli is second in the group at the moment, and they only need to beat Villarreal -which btw look piss poor at the moment, to go through.
Napoli controls the fate of the group, so the best City can do is to win their game, and wait for an upset.
