Drogba
should he start ahead of Fernando Torres now?
it looks obvious doesnt it? he is so much better, already trailing the fat piece spanish ham by one goal

Re: Drogba
Did you watch the game? 0.o
Put one good header in, and scored... but majority of the game he was horrible.
Torres' last 10 minutes and involved in the two other goals > Drogba today imo.

Re: Drogba
Yes, I never understood why we bought Torres, would be been much better to do at the end of this season.
Torres will be a starter next year though.

Re: Drogba
This is how I see it,
We play Drogba, Everyone around him is a danger, we play Torres, Torres is the main danger.
We work more like a team when Drogba is on.

Seriously Nick?
He was a ghost today apart from one free header.

Re: Drogba
Drogba should start it's pretty obvious. I would play him about 70 minutes and have Torres come on for the last 25 minutes or so.
The whole front line looked way more dangerous with Drogba in there and I like the way Sturridge plays off of Drogba.
Plus I've always thought Drogba's free kicks are so underrated and he is such a physical pressence in the box it brings a whole new dynamic to there play. I think the whole team is more confident when Drogba starts.

Re: Drogba
He wasn't that good imo he tired pretty early too, don't think he can hack full 90 any more although maybe its just rust.
Sturridge is just a greedy *bleep* when Torres is on the field that's all, I wish he would pass to him more.

Re: Drogba
With Drogba being on the pitch, it creates a lot more space for our forwards. He makes everyone better. Sturridge and Mata would not have the same success with Torres.
Drogba>>>>Torres.

In attack and defence, it's a no brainer for me.

Re: Drogba
I know Torres set up the third goal but the last 15 minutes was a perfect display of why he shouldn't start.
Newcastle was trying everything they could to give away a goal and Torres gets himself into good positions but just can't finish anymore.
He just wastes way too many chances and Chelsea are not playing well enough especially on defense to have Torres miss the wide open chances his teammates create for him.

Re: Drogba
Strurridge had around 6 shots today. Atleast half of those were one on ones. One of them was scored.
I only remember Torres having one, and passed the rebound to Kalou for him to score.

Re: Drogba
He had a couple open chances and the one he assisted on he was two yards ahead of everyone and still managed to mess it up, I mean it doesn't get any easier then that in the EPL.
Also, I don't know what Sturridge has to do with anything as they don't play the same position and he played 90 minutes to Torres' 15 minutes and when Torres were on the field Newcastle were wide open daring Chelsea to score.
Not to mention Sturridge has 7 goals in the last 10 games.

Re: Drogba
I was actually talking about the
If you're going to be critical on one player, atleast be critical on the others. I mean, it's not a hard observation that Torres' finishing has been horrible as of late, but with media/fans constantly on his back when he wasn't even that bad today just proves he is a target. Watch Drogba get praises etc for being horrible for the majority of the game.

Re: Drogba
Well the media would "get off Torres' back" if he played awful all game but scored. They are CF's, that's what there paid to do. People on this forum constantly just ignore when forwards score and just say he was awful minus the opening goal of the game.
I mean you can't say that, Drogba did his job, period.

Re: Drogba
Drogba is only better for the team than Torres,
If Torres' play allowed Sturridge, Mata, Ramires and Lampard to become big threats then Torres eould start everytime but his play doesn't, Drogba's does.

Re: Drogba
Lets face it. Both Torres and Drogba are average. Torres has his moments where he shines, but Drogba is also capable of getting on the score sheet from time to time.
BUT what Drogba does better than Torres is that he improves everyone else's form around him while Torres frustrates everyone and brings us to a slump. Not to mention the media focusing on him every time after he starts but doesn't score, and no doubt that the media affects the atmosphere around the club. However, when Torres doesn't start everyone is satisfied and people don't focus on him as much and finally focus on the positives of the overall team, which provides a boost to the players.
Therefore Drogba shits all over Torres.

Re: Drogba
I don't really see the problem at Chelsea being the CF. An aging Lampard, Terry and Cole are the much bigger issues. Luiz is not a good CB yet either.
The club just needs to recycle several of its former star players. They're on the down slope of their careers.

Re: Drogba
Drogba offers more than Torres does as well
Big, strong target man who can take sexy set-pieces, coupled with fluid skills on the ball and great movement off the ball
Torres has nice hair
