Is Ibra WC?
Re: Is Ibra World Class?
I'm from Sweden and Zlatan as a 10 > CF
That is a fact and Sweden does play better without him, unless he plays as a 10. As a CF he doesn't really care about Sweden and barely bothers moving

Re: Is Ibra World Class?
Omarish, great point. Fact is when Ibra was playing earlier as a CF way back then with Sweden is when he received his criticism. But its been long since that position as since his switch to the 10 role all swedes love the man as there even is a popular song on him by some child and the crowd has a chant on his name.
Its a common myth that Ibra is a CF as that position limits him and he simply does not enjoy the play there hence his attitude within that role.
In Barca he wanted more freedom and wanted the 10 role yet handled the situation poorly in his communication with pep.
@kiranr: Hey buddy I'm glad you like this sig as despite its epic illustration it also shows how much you appreciate the King.
And yes, I wish I could make it bigger haha.

Ibra is really only the one exception i ever make for any player to excuse stats, really he is not only effective for the team, he also has magic in his feet. He has the most amazing highlight reels of any player i know.

Re: Is Ibra World Class?
is this some kind of a joke ?
tomorrow someone else will start a thread asking if Messi is world class.
Funny how one biased opinion of czy in another thread could influence people into making a thread such as this.
Ibra is just more than stats. Most talented striker of this generation. And talking about stats ,his is quite impressive considering the defensive and tactical nature of serie a.
Its only under Mancini that he played as a CF, otherwise he has pretty much played behind the main striker and in one season at Juve,he played on the left wing so stats alone cant be used as an argument to judge his ability and question his credentials.

Re: Is Ibra World Class?
To me, being WC is not necessarily a quantifiable category. Stats etc. only tell you so much.
Watching Zlatan tells you he is world class, I don't need no conversion rates or trophy cabinets to prove that. We aren't watching baseball.
Players with the skill to show magic are World Class, who regularly do things that can wow you, those are the WC players, and that is why we watch the game.

Re: Is Ibra World Class?
Agree with Arq, Surag and GBS
Zlatan doesnt need to do anything to prove himself as WC. HE IS WC. One of the best strikers out there, his record says so as well.
100 Serie A goals in 196 App, playing for 3 Diff teams.

Re: Is Ibra World Class?
Zlatan a lazy CF? You clearly havent seen him play for Milan at all. He drops deeper than CAMs often, and it works fantastic for him, as he can use passes and superb vision. If only Robinho was a goalscorer, Zlatan would have had a gazillion assists.

Re: Is Ibra World Class?
I am pretty surprised by sport's opinion here, who as a French person should know stats tell you so much. Or else we would be calling Zidane average.
Regardless, on topic. According to my definition of WC.
A Player needs to be:
1- Outstanding in his position.
2- Consistent in his "outstandingness".
3- Do it for a long period of time.
Being outstanding is really subjective, but the opinion of many becomes the truth. And trophies and the role the player had on getting those trophies contributes to that truth.
1- First, Zlatan was never a straightforward CF, he always played as an SS with AM tenancies. Hist style like a more retreated Van Basten. Being in that position, Ibra simply became the fulcrum for 4 out of 5 teams. Ajaz, Juve, Inter, and Milan. Only at Barca did he not manage to stamp out his style on the team. And even then, if it were not for the price and the subsequent fallout with Pep. None would have condemned the transfer. Simply put, Barca would NOT have won the La Liga without his contribution. He stepped up at the greatest match against Madrid, and only after injury and problems with Pep did his performance suffer.
Nonetheless, unlike Ronaldinho who came to Milan as a finished player, Ibra became one of the most important players in the team, and once again took Serie A by storm.
On abilities: Ibra is a technical enigma, the most talented player with his physique. He is two footed, can score from anywhere and any place, and is a passing master. His primary job is not goalscoring, it is making his team win, as he have done countless times for all the teams he played for, and I hated him for it (with Inter).
2- Sport called him moody, which destroys the credibility of his argument. Ibra have always been obsessed with winning, and the only lengthy rough patch he ever had was the one with Barca, in all his other stints he was constantly dangerous, and constantly a menace. He even came back with an injury to help Inter win the league in the last day, if that was not strong mentality where the efforts of the whole team rest on this one one game then I don't know what is.
Some look at his CL record to belittle him. Just when the same people call for trophies NOT to be used. A quick look at the teams that Ibra played with in the CL should suffice to pardon him from most of the blame:
- Ajax: small team despite the history unfortunately.
- Juve: Lost against the Arsenal that went to the finals.
- Inter: the team's dominance in Serie A disguising the fact they had NO midfield and only one offensive outlet who is in form. One look at that team shows why they never really challenged.
- Barca: an Inesita-less Barca losing against the eventual winners.
- Milan: an injury ridden Milan forced to plat Silva as a DM.
While he gets some of the blame, the CL flop mantra is ridiculous, especially since very few players excel at the CL.
3- The longevity of his peak: Ibra have been performing and arguably improving some of his chore skills for 8 years now. Only one year did he slow down, and even that it was 6 months after coming off an injury and a fallout with the manager.
Conclusion: Ibra, due to his versatility and ability as well as his consistency and ability to alleviate the team's general play. And due to him doing that for the past 8 years in indeed a WC player.
- Barca

Re: Is Ibra World Class?
One thing for which im thankfull to zlatan is if it wasnt for him Barca would have won 3 CL title in a row,he completley managed to destroy best team in the world within 1 year
And lol at Zlatan pivotal to laliga campaign, dont bother showing up clasico goals ask any barca fans if it was any other striker instead of ibra they would have walked la liga and CL but they went until last round to win la liga and got knocked out in both copa and CL.
But Ibra is definitely WC,no contest there(no pun intended).
