Barcelona join Manchester United in race for Benfica's Nicolas Gaitan

Barcelona are the latest team to be found keeping tabs on talented Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan, Sport claims.

An
emissary from the Catalan club was at the Estadio da Luz on Saturday to
observe the 23-year-old in Benfica's 1-0 victory against Sporting CP in
the Portuguese Liga.

The Argentina international has been in a
rich vein of form this season, leading to reports that Manchester United
are also keeping a close eye on him.

Gaitan signed a one-year contract extension with Benfica last month, but his release clause remained unchanged at €45 million.

The
former Boca Juniors talent, who is the current top provider in the
Champions League with four assists, has so far made 20 club appearances
this season.

OH...I now understand why United want him.

An attacking midfielder would make a lot of sense........at first I was like

Winger?!!!? Rolling Eyes

Anyway......doubt Barca are actually interested and if they are no one will be able to figure out precisely why.

0 space for an attacking midfielder in that team.

He plays on the wing most of the time, and given Villa's and Pedro's atrocious form it's not surprising to see Sport making up some stories about their position.
