I think it was just to make things a little more interesting. The general agreement was already made and foreseen by the papers, so a little spice was in order until the specifics were finalised.

Just like I said, Mourinho won't risk him at RB when there is no guarantee he will be better than Ramos. Marcelo will alternate between LB and RW as things stand now and obviously bench time. But I believe he'll ultimately prove he is better than Coentrao at LB and that will earn him back his favourite spot. Afterall Coentrao is only a Portuguese Marcelo.

Marcelo is not a good winger, neither is Coentrao. there is a reason they are playing LB and guys like di maria are playing LW.

Coentrao is a freak LB, i wouldnt be as confident as people here. He is better than marcelo all round.

If this stuff is true... Mou has gone completely power crazy, with supreme power and limitless budget. Soon we'll be after Ribery for 100 million again to compete with Ronaldo...

But I dont believe it could be true. Hopefully, there is some kind of plan. I have a feeling that one of the two LBs will get sold in a few years anyway, after this experiment fails. And it better not be Marcelo.

I think this is a bad buy. Wasn't he shit Portugal vs Spain? Puyol handled him with ease. And this is no upgrade from Marcelo... Maybe in a defensive way but Marcelos attacking has been really important for us (for example, against Barca?) and Marcelo is improving really fast. If you saw him at the start of the season he was lost but he is solid now in the defence imo.

And Marcelo brings alot to the locker room. Everyone likes him. I hope this is another Benzema, we pay alot of money just to bench him and he flops...
