Re: Transfer Rumors
Don't really know.
Anyways with the amount of forwards on the team I can't see where the space is for him. I like him as a player quite a lot, and although having him would be a plus, I don't think we need him. Also I question the level of his passing game would be up for the challenge of playing at Barca.

Re: Transfer Rumors
As it stands Pedro is not even a starter anymore. It would also be hard to make the argument that Lavezzi is better for us than an in-form Pedro, which we all hope he will be returning to soon, if the injuries let him. Regardless he would be hard to get from Napoli who don't really have a reputation as a selling club. We'd end up playing a pretty penny for him, like we did for Alexis, but he's nowhere near as young.

Re: Transfer Rumors
I don't know. I don't think we're about to sell any of our La Masia products. I would give Afellay and Villa one more year(we'll see how they perform next season). Then we have Sanchez and Cesc who aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
Lavezzi would be a bench warmer if he came I think. He plays better in a counterattacking system which we are the furthest thing from. That DOESN'T mean he can't fit into our system.
What we DO need is a LB

Re: Transfer Rumors
The last thing Barcelona need is another winger. Besides, I don't think Lavezzi's style fits Barcelona.
Re: Transfer Rumors
Gareth Bale has been linked to Barcelona for a while. I think blaugrana should steer clear of him. Not because of the fact that he is highly overpriced, but more importantly the style of football he excels at. He could be one hell of a signing for a team like Madrid though.
Re: Transfer Rumors
Btw Danyjr I've asked around and the reason Andrada doesn't play as Lanus' sub is that he gets more playing time as the reserve keeper than as the substitute of the first team, which enables him to keep growing.

Re: Transfer Rumors
Thanks for the info. I'm still a bit sceptical about him. If he is the third choice at Lanús is he really that good? Considering Marchesín is quite young as well and not considered one of Primera División's greats (I haven't watched them enough to claim anything though). I guess he's young so he has time to improve. I hope he's not another Asenjo.
Re: Transfer Rumors
Vertonghen is better than Vermaelen and would fit in well at Barcelona or Real Madrid, claims Ronald de Boer
Not really a rumour but I'm curious to know what Vertonghen is like. Any words from "Hete BLKSM" on this player since he's the only Dutch on this forum? I don't watch Eredivisie.

Re: Transfer Rumors
no, we shouldnt. lavezzi is one of the biggest ball hoggers in the game. he could do as a backup for when we are lacking messi, otherwise it woulddnt work. plus, the guy is not that good: loses a lot of balls, doesnt score much....
lets remember also that alexis was considered the best serie a player, so in theory we have a better player than him already in the team (though pedro is better too, off course, and the heskey comment is ridiculous when pedro scored nearly 50 goals in 2 years with us, many of them in big games and finals).

Re: Transfer Rumors
According to Cadena Ser, if Malaga qualify for CL they will try to sign Tello, maybe on loan. He apparently has a 10m buyout clause.

Vertonghen is a very decent defender, too good for the Eredivisie but not yet top-European-side material. He tends to go forward relatively often and can be an offensive threat during setpieces. He's pretty fast on the ball and decent defensively. He's also a pretty tall guy (189 cm) who can also play as LB (as he does for his country) so in that regard he could be a very good option for Barcelona. He is the type of defender that I think would flourish the most in an attacking side. So overall I think he would suit our style of play (and it would suit him) but he isn't on a level yet where he would be a starter. He might be able to become one though, as Vermaelen also made a pretty big step forward when he joined Arsenal.

Re: Transfer Rumors
N'koulou
easily one of the best defender in France, and he is just 22. He became the leader of Marseille's defense, if he is not playing they are in trouble. He can play DM, his distribution out of the defense is usually clean and he is a great athlete (fast).
a bit about him:
"When he joined the famous Kadji Sports Academy of Douala, Cameroon, an
eleven year-old Nicolas N’Koulou had only one dream: he wanted to become
the equal of his childhood idol, Laurent Blanc. Ten years later, the youngster
has already made a fair share of his way to the highest level. With both
Marseille and Cameroon – he is the vice-captain of the Indomitable Lions - he has installed himself as a force to be reckoned with at the heart of the defence.
At Monaco last season, Nicolas N’Koulou was one of the only positives for his club in a humiliating season punctuated with relegation to Ligue 2. Followed by Arsenal, N’Koulou preferred Marseille and he was soon proved right. Within weeks at his new club, he had split the favoured centre-back partnership of Stéphane M’Bia and Souleymane Diawara, replacing his international teammate and fellow Kadji Academy alumni in central defence.
A strong player, although not of a particularly impressive build, N’Koulou is absolutely outstanding in his composure. Anyone watching the Cameroonian defender play can only be struck by the serenity in each of his interventions. Rarely overrun and barely ever over-powered, it sometimes looks like the trajectory of the ball is influenced by his positioning rather than the usual contrary. This is the secret to his effortless and efficient style
on the pitch. In all circumstances, Nicolas N’Koulou doesn’t seem to ever falter. He doesn’t complain either.
He simply works harder and raises his game every time he is put to the test. He could certainly improve his passing and his play with the ball in general. But at only 21, he has the potential and all the time in the world to
pursue his dream and one day, maybe, become an equal to Le Président.
Now, stay away, promote bartra, muniesa or something

Re: Transfer Rumors
I remember N'Koulou from Cameroon in various youth tourneys and obviously full NT as he been playing for them for years if I remember correctly.
I am sure I saw him at rightback too at some point.
Anyway, naturally his physical attributes are a major selling point. The only concern is, how long will it take him to devolp the composure and ball skills needed for us? If he is very raw, a backline of him and Mascherano would be a bit of a worry.

Re: Transfer Rumors
Well according to that article Nick posted he is already very composed, so perhaps that's not as big an issue as his passing ability. I have no idea how good his passing is, but I'd rather us go for a ball-playing CB if we are to bring one in - Pique needs competition for the spot.

Re: Transfer Rumors
Played a couple of matches for Monaco on the wing when their RB Adriano was injured. Not sure why he is associated with Barcelona. Don't think he is good enough to play for a top club, certainly not at the moment. The Franchise wrote:I am sure I saw him at rightback too at some point.
