Most Improved player of 2010-11 Season
Who is the most improved player of 2010-11 season, Hybrid such as Ronaldo, Messi, Robben, Xavi, Sneijder, Vidic etc should be kept out of this...with that said.
Personally I feel Mario Gomez of Bayern Munich improved greatly this season when you compare his performance of last season to this, I mean just take a look at the video below, Woeful Performance.
Players such as Manuel Neuer, Ozil, Sahin, (the entire Dortmund team), Jack.W, Krasic, Kelly, Lucas, Smalling, Fabio, Vidal, Kompany, Pastore, Suarez, Sanchez, Ronaccho, Bale. Also made some improvement. (Am I forgetting anyone)..?

I agree with Godmez.
Sadly the only Chelsea player to improve this year was Ramires. The rest stayed the same or got worse.

Re: Most Improved player of 2010-11 Season
Gomez may have been poor in the previous season, however he'd previously been in excellent form to push for the move from Stuttgart in the first place, so I'm afraid I'd disagree unless it's looked at from the previous season instead of the view of their careers. 39 goals from 45 goals for Bayern isn't much of a step up from 35 in 44 for Stuttgart.
In my opinion the most improved player would be Cavani who had an incredible season that very few were predicting.
Sanchez made significant ground this year as well, he was nowhere near as effective last season. Abate has also made great progress.

Re: Most Improved player of 2010-11 Season
As for the others you mentioned, I'd say that Bale simply got the chance he needed away from the fullback role, but even then it was a season interrupted by injury. We already knew Bale could pull off the spectacular, what he needed to do is show he can do it consistently, however he was shut down in several important games in the EPL and didn't have enough of a chance to build up steam because he was then knocked out.
Several Dortmund players deserve recognition, though in particular I think Sven Bender should be credited for his work in breaking into the first eleven.
Krasic had already shown he was talented, though his start to the season was incredible. As soon as Quagliarella was injured though it became a simple task to double mark him as the only source of creativity and thus I'd be reluctant to call him one of the most improved, he still needs to work on his finishing which is one of his weaker aspects.
Smalling, Wilshere and Vidal are excellent candidates as you mentioned.

Is not just about goals, Gomez has really improved as a player his work-rate, Finishing, dribbling, creativity, heading, off the ball, pace and strength has really improved.
For teammate and Bundesliga top scorer Mario Gomez, Lahm had only positive words.
"I think he has developed very much. He takes on a much greater role in our games. He distributes the ball very well, and has a good shot with both his left and right feet," he concluded.
Cavani and Marcelo good mention

I really just believe that's the return of his confidence. As soon as he couldn't stop scoring the spring returned to his step. His work-rate and the effective use of his pace is a result of that confidence. I've no doubt being surrounded by the coaches and world class players has improved him, however it's nowhere near the leap in quality shown by someone like Cavani.

Re: Most Improved player of 2010-11 Season
I'm not joking this time, but Abate has improved leaps and bounds defensively. From being roasted by average Serie A wingers to owning Ronaldo, Eto'o and Bale is a huge step forward. He still needs to improve offensively and learn to curb his temper.
Gomez has not improved he is just back in form, same as Benzema and Melo.
Rossi has really improved, has been second to only Ronaldo and Messi in La Liga.
Negredo has really stepped up after Fabiano's departure.
Sanchez has improved A LOT. He is very effective now and has also matured.
Speaking of maturing, Neymar matured immensely. He was very selfish last season and tried to be too cheeky sometimes. This season he has a lot of assists and contributes more to team play.
Shout out to Matri and Astori too, has improved a lot from last season.
Neuer has evolved to the best goalkeeper in the world.
And last but not least Thiago Silva. He was great last season, but he used to suffer without Nesta. This season he has been the best CB in the world, only second to Vidic and has been Italian Serie A's best player. He commands the defence and with our without Nesta, he excels. Is only 26 (young for a CB), might improve more and that is scary.

Re: Most Improved player of 2010-11 Season
Mario Gomez has improved a lot that's all I can say, his the most improve player of this season.
Ask any Bundesliga, Bayern Stuttgart, or Germany fan they may be in better position to explain his improvement.
Perhaps You guys didn't watch the Video and You'll see how woeful Gomez was, even for the National team he used to miss clear cut chances and he never work hard as much as he does now.

I believe Felipe Melo is worthy of a shout. He finished 2009-2010 as a complete flop and most of the fans' scapegoat. Then he finished 2010-2011 as a hero and one of our prized assets. Huge improvement right there.

Re: Most Improved player of 2010-11 Season
Özil didn't actually improve that much, people just didn't know how boss he was. Godmez hardly improved as well, he just bounced back to his pre-injury self.
For me it's Götze and Sven Bender, though they're very young, so it's not that suprising that they're improving fast.
Same goes for Wilshere. Very impressive, but he's so young, it's sort of to be expected that he gets better each season.
What I'm really interested is in players in their mid-twenties and up vastly improving. That's interesting shit.
Rossi has become the shit, he's really been boss this season. Or Vidal of Neverkusen fame.

wouldnt say peter cech improved because really he returned to the level he was playing at before that head injury, so sort of an improvement and sort of a return to form i guess

Vidal is a very good call
I don't understand how nobody mentioned Fabianski....Does nobody remember how atrocious he was last season? He went from absolute shit to great over a couple of a months.

You mean he got a shoulder injury that ruled him out for the second half of the season and so he was PHYSICALLY UNABLE to play?

To the Bundesliga fans, how was Neuer @ Schalke last year? I didn't really watch Bundesliga last season, so I have no idea if he's improved or not. :geek:

IMO he improved, but not by much. He has been a class player for a while, He just went unnoticed because of Adler and Enke holding down the german GK spot.
