Some 60M people watched RM in China
It's a tiny % compared to the overwhelming population of China, but that's how many people tuned up to watch Real Madrid roll over Osasuna today.
It's the second game this season that his played at 12:00 local time in Spain, and the response was very positive in the targeted Asian market, as shown by the chinese numbers.
It's an encouragement sight for la Liga BBVA which is trying to sell La liga to Asian markets. They are certainly open for more la liga games, but the RFEF will have to work the schedule in other to offer earlier games.
At 12:00 in Spain, it's 19:00 in Beijing, so there is definitely a window to offer more games to a demanding Asian market. Playing games so late in Europe is useless.
The response in Madrid was also very positive, as it was reported that the demand for seats was overwhelming.
CCTV5 who owns the right reported a global 120M..
Another 100M followed the game online on an official website that shows league games and CL games.

Wow, amazing numbers.
On another note, Mourinho was not happy with the Madrid fans reactions. He said they were quiet during the game against Osasuna.

Yet Rosell still doesn't want any lunchtime games.

It's good for La Liga as a league, ealier games for every teams are a good thing, including barcelona, unless you want to sell your soul to oil money forever.

You forgot Barca's president doesn't want this. Don't know why people can't see it's not about Madrid alone.

You have a good point, but yes it is great for the league, La Liga is rising in popularity, maybe it will be as big as the hoofball league soon. :lol!:St_Nick09_of_Goal wrote:Lionel Messi wrote:english_jewel wrote:Real Madrid section ---->

it's a long way ahead, but there is clearly a lot of room for bringing in more money in the league.

GDP per capita in China: 4,393
GDP per capita US: 47,184
So, 60M chinese watching Real Madrid is roughly the equivalent of 6M Americans watching them, from a business point of view... nothing to brag about.

Not sure about what calculation you did there, but that's not important.
thread isnt about braggins rights, but suggesting that moving up games will have a notable effect on viewership. Not that it's anything revolutionary, but this is an actual application.

But the viewership is marginal, because even though there are more numbers there is less revenue. 1/10th of the revenue.

Re: Some 60M people watched RM in China
It's about TV deals not merchandising it's not about RM alone RM could have just toured China if it was about themselves. TV deals won't be about GDP.

except rfef can't move many attractive fixtures to that timeslot because in latin america, which has a massive la liga following, that would mean games at 7-8 am on a sunday morning

True. I think they should spread it out so that most of the areas have games at a good time.

There are plenty of very poor people in China. You have to divide them into classes and then look at the GDP/capita in terms of PPP. The ratio will come out much greater than 1/10.

We get plenty of games at that hour, but in the form of Premier League matchesche wrote:except rfef can't move many attractive fixtures to that timeslot because in latin america, which has a massive la liga following, that would mean games at 7-8 am on a sunday morning
All Liga matches are in the afternoon, which is great because we get games evenly split up. Premier and Bundesliga in the morning, Liga and Calcio in the afternoon. Local games in the night.

Re: Some 60M people watched RM in China
You should have midday games on the weekends. It makes all the sense in the world. All the major sports in the USA do it for various reasons... one of which is that it allows for worldwide viewership.
Midday games during the week, however, is retarded unless its a scheduling issue.
