Schweinsteiger out until New Year
REUTERS - Bayern Munich and Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has undergone surgery on his broken collar bone and will be out of action until the New Year, the Bavarian club said on Thursday.
"The fracture was successfully repaired and a plate inserted in an operation performed at around 2 a.m. on Thursday morning," said Bayern, after the player was injured during Wednesday's 3-2 win over Napoli in the Champions League.
Bayern said Schweinsteiger will stay in hospital until Friday and must rest completely for two weeks after that.
"The first step in his sports rehabilitation programme will be to resume jogging, before the player is cleared to resume training with the team in approximately six weeks.
"That in turn means Schweinsteiger will not play again this calendar year," it added.
"It's a blow, because he's been in outstanding form recently," said coach Jupp Heynckes. "In the second half, we saw how important Bastian is to the team. Our game suffered badly after he went off."

Re: Schweinsteiger out until New Year
Well I feared worse tbh, he'll be back for the round of 16, and he'll be well rested for the UCL knockouts and the Euros.
Still, Bayern are much less fun to watch without the Schweinster

You think there is a chance Bayern wants to sell him to Arsenal now? :shisha:

good one.. Rummenigge would be selling his blood and plasma on a daily basis and Hoeness both of his kidneys if money would be a problem in munich before letting Piggy go..

Re: Schweinsteiger out until New Year
Maybe if he keeps getting injured, but that's like his first serious injury since... ... I remember, basically.
Also if things get rough I can see him getting subbed in like tomorrow, he's a tough sunofabitch

I wonder what Jupp gonna do.
If Kroos will fit in Bastian's role or if he'll keep Tymo-Gustavo duo in midfield.

Re: Schweinsteiger out until New Year
That's why I wanted Vidal. We don't have a man-for-man sub for Schweini. Well, there really isn't one but Vidal would have been awesome.
Further signs that the world will be ending next year. Schweinsteiger injured
Heynckes favors Kroos in an attacking role, and that's where he himself prefers and what favors the team the most. He's been doing fine in that role so far, and he doesn't have the defensive stability Heynckes is all about these days.
Gustavo-Tymo grind midfield FTW :mental:

That's not too bad, both Germany and Bayern are already qualified.
And Bayern should cope with this with all their NT players on the bench.

Re: Schweinsteiger out until New Year
The good thing is that Schweini will come back in beast mode. I know he's never injured or tired, but if he was always in great shape then he's going to be in even greater shape.
Those Sarah Bradner home training sessions should be enough.

Re: Schweinsteiger out until New Year
Tymo-Gustavo would add an extra dimension to defense, but both of them lacks creativity.
Gustavo can shoot from distance and make some runs, but that's pretty much all he can do offensively tbh.

Re: Schweinsteiger out until New Year
Gustavo can pass decently. Kroos is going to have to show his potential.
Anyways, with a front line consisting of Ribéry, Mueller and Kroos... creativity isn't exactly lacking. All they have to do is keep the ball and pass decently to any of those guys.
Nevermind once Godbben comes back. He's just chilling so Ribéry gets his confidence back.

Re: Schweinsteiger out until New Year
I broke mine playing rugby when I was 16, took me out for less than 4 weeks, was ok. Piggy is older, but it's at least not a bone in a joint or something that needs to move. Just let it heal and he'll be fine, it's nothing that costs you mobility or anything.

Who cares. Would probably even be good to calm a few over-optimistic people down.
