Matri sees Milan in pole position
Juventus may be top of the League, but Alessandro Matri has labelled Milan as favourites for the Italian championship.
Matri’s Juve maintained top spot in the Division at the weekend with a 2-1 victory at Internazionale. Milan are fourth, two points behind.
“Milan are the champions, they have great players and that is why they are still the favourites for the title,” the striker told Studio Sport.
“We just have to concentrate on finishing the campaign in the best position possible. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.”
Juve are the only unbeaten side in the championship, but Matri has warned fans that they’ll face another big test next weekend.
“Things are going well and we want to continue on this path,” added the former Cagliari man. “But we have a very important game at Napoli coming up.
“The fact that Napoli are playing in Europe and we aren’t could be an advantage for us on a physical level, but there are certain games where motivation helps to get rid of fatigue.”
Matri has netted four goals in eight appearances so far as new boss Antonio Conte has used a variety of formations – 4-4-2, 4-1-4-1 and 4-3-3.
“The Coach is keeping us focused,” the international said. “We are working on various formations which allow us to change mid-game.
“We’re working hard to give our very best in training and in the matches themselves.”

Re: Matri sees Milan in pole position
One day I hope a team says they're favourites. Not just they can win but not in pole position.

Milan are favourites...
they won last year so the teams they face are cautious & not as attacking...

the team only want to take of the pressure from them and play on peace;
on the same time they are making pressure on AC MILAN

Well Del Neri said last year in November that we had a shot at the scudetto, and look what happened after that. Waasn't such a smart comment to make. So Matri saying Milan are favourites right now is the proepr thing to say. Thyey are the defending champions, so they should be favourites until they lose that title.

Re: Matri sees Milan in pole position
No we are not Scudetto contenders.
You have currently.
Napoli, Milan, Lazio, Udinese, fighting for first place.
Imagine with Inter and Roma back...
Oh dear how hard it will be to get the Scudetto.
Add in all the midtable teams like Siena, Atalanta, Chievo etc...
This league is just too competitive.

Re: Matri sees Milan in pole position
Juventus could be scudetto competitors though
Imagine if they won games against Bologna, Chievo, Catania- can't win them all but these were winnable games for sure.
Then imagine if the team was properly rotated- makes it less stressful on players like Pirlo/Vucinic
Now Juventus just started a tough stretch of games
