Re: Rafa Benitez
There's no way Kenny would resign.
But, if he was I wouldn't mind Rafa coming in. He definitely wouldn't be my first choice though. As good as he was with us, he had a poor man management and imo lost it with the players in the end by fighting with the owners. He should of kept the players close and focus on the league.
It'd be interesting to see who'd he go for in the transfer market seeing as he would of the financial backing of the owners for once.
He has a great eye for talent and we play a lot different now than we used to back then.

I loved him, But am still pissed that he didnt try keeping legends like Masch and Alonso here longer... I know the owners had a big hand in it, But still think he could have worked a bit harder..

Re: Rafa Benitez
Wellllll, that would depend on the options.
Ancelotti would likely be available and I rate him highly.
Paul Lambert (Norwich) looks like he could be a world-class manager in the making.
Rafa would be an easy choice, because of his fondness towards Liverpool and I'm sure you couldn't get a more motivated manager to guide the club, but I'm not 100% sure would he be the best choice when it comes to getting those results. But he'd certainly be in the top 5 of my list.

No question, I'd have him back.

Re: Rafa Benitez
Well he is a legend for certain no two ways about it.But i wouldnt take him back too much baggage imho.
There will be way too much pressure on him that i dont think it wil be good either Rafa or Liverpool.
But i think Majority of fans would be delighted to have him back.

Imagine My Rafa <3
Imagine we're back in 2007
With Shankly watching us from the heaven
Back from Athens with the silver medal
with our lads giving it their all
There is no Hicks or Gillete
They are c*nt and full of shit
Henry comes and buys us then
tells Rafa backing of 10 outta 10
Nando comes from sunny Madrid
with an offer that no other c*nt can outbid
He gets number 9 and bangs them goals
He is worth 120 Joe F*cking Coles
Henry asks Rafa what he wants
Rafa says no to gold, since he wants Silva
We get the lad from Valencia
Telling his mates they are next in line
Javi Martinez and Dani Alves
join us in deals that surprise the press
We're becoming an awesome team
last piece of puzzle is a mystery
Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuur Picccckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuur Pickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Aguero or Suarez....We get them lad and win the league
Ole Ole Ole Ole
Imagine my Rafa had money
He'd turn salt into good honey
We'd be raping Real 4-0 every year
and Anal those Mancs in their ears
Imaagineeeeeeeeee

Re: Rafa Benitez
<blockquote>Rafael Benitez isn’t big on relationships, but in my mind he is pure managerial genius.
I still have the debate with some of the Liverpool lads today – Stevie Gerrard and I have had quite intense discussions about this. Rafa’s lack of emotion contrasted with Stevie, whose view was ‘he never praises you’, and he thought it would help some of the other players if they got
some positive strokes.
As far as my time at Liverpool is concerned, people may think Rafa broke my heart, because he was in charge when I left. But I could have stayed – he just told me the situation as it was: had I stayed I would have been a bit part player. I couldn’t allow my Anfield career to end with a whimper, it meant far too much to me. But it wasn’t that Rafa broke my heart, it was I wanted
to leave in a dignified manner.
Even if Rafa had forcibly removed me from Anfield, he’d still be near the top of my managerial list.
Sometimes, talking to Rafa was like when your car windscreen’s iced up on a winter’s morning. You can’t see anything, but when you switch on the de-icer gradually you start to see through the impenetrable barrier of ice, a hazy picture emerges and within two minutes you have a full Technicolor image.
Rafa had the ability to achieve this rapid transformation from total blankness to incredible insight in just two minutes. He was incisive. He had the mind of a prosecution barrister and the words of a Spanish troubadour.
Gerard Houllier’s influence on Liverpool, and on me, was seismic. Forget about the way things ended for him at Anfield, and remember what he did for the club in its proper context. The Titanic was heading for the iceberg and Houllier calmly and carefully took control. He stopped the slide that would have taken the club not quite into oblivion, but into Premier League mediocrity, and laid the foundations for a very successful period in Liverpool’s history.

Re: Rafa Benitez
A local news paper ran a story by AFP based on Hamann's book The Didi Man just today. It was about the time he lost $450K on a Cricket bet.
Is there any download (free) version of the book you quoted!!!

Re: Rafa Benitez
Kenny is my number 1 choice for Liverpool and this stands.
But if he were to retire (or god forbid be sacked) I would choose Rafa back in a heartbeat. No doubt.
I always knew our last year with him a failure due to his mental fatigue, and many other footballing factors, but it did not ruin my impression of him one single bit.
Best thing is I know he himself wouldn't hesitate to come back as so much he loves the city he currently lives there.
With the new owners and no Purslow, I'm sure a new start for him with a fresh and rested mind would bring wonders again.
I rate him as one of the best managers today and possibly the best tactician in the world.
Didi's words are beautifully written as I couldn't agree more.
Gracias Rafa.

Re: Rafa Benitez
Rafa is a genius.....i'd actually take him long term at Real Madrid......not back at Liverpool because I just think that ship has sailed and it's time to move one.
He needs to get more in touch with the emotional side of the game though.........I think he takes his job a bit too seriously at times and it throws off people....

Nice little article
Bumping this thread in no way, shape, or form means that I want Kenny sacked I love the guy, he's done amazingly and I believe he can restore our glory. But if he were to quit Rafa is my first choice.

Rafa Benitez is a legend and an absolute genius. I'd love to hug him one day
