So, what happened to holding back until the window is shut?
You think THIS was a rant?
This was like a 2 minute trailer to a 3 hour movie. I had to elucidate that my frustration isn't driven by Draxler, Vucinic or any big name signing (or lack of it thereof).

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
Wenger always tells us about how Oxlade-Chamberlain is a central midfielder, yet brings Kallstrom on loan instead of using him there and perhaps sign a winger, striker or both, instead... positions we need more to strengthen.
Southampton game and other games too were proof about how we need to inject some pace in attack from wings in case our passing isn't working and we can't dominate. We have no runners, Giroud is always occupied with the central defenders trying to hold up, Cazorla, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gnabry, Rosicky cut-in instead of running behind defences, Podolski never plays, Walcott is injured... ironically Özil our best player in putting defense splitting passes is forced to make runs because no one else does
But hey Kallstrom on loan will be more useful, I guess..

Just because nobody was signed (or nobody big was signed) doesn't mean nothing happened, nothing was tried, and nothing is being planned. I understand your frustration, Sri, and I too feel that a good forward signing was something we really should have gone for in this window. But cool heads are best. I just think that (a) this January was a bad time to get the kinds of players we needed in attack, and (b) we shouldn't let our very valid disappointment in results retroject a fictional account what Arsenal "tried" or how the totally lacked strategy. I think that just contributes to the toxis up-and-down manic depressive attitude around the club's fans.
Anyway. Kim Källström, if this loan becomes official, does have one indisputably good quality: he brings more umlauts to the roster.
Firstly, I approve of the umlauts
My head is still very much cool, Chum. That logic is not infallible, but at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how well you have played if you don't win the game. And so too with transfer windows. It doesn't matter how much you worked behind the scenes if the additions to the player roster aren't forthcoming.
I am still pissed about the points dropped at Saints. I am shitting bricks about our February/March schedule. With this background, being linked with big names or doing loads of background work isn't going to help us much. What will help is who we bring in.
Let's look at it in a different way. It begs asking the question. If Ramsey/Jack injuries were a few days later, if Flamini got the card against Crystal Palace, after the window had already shut down, would we see Kim Källström being brought in to tide over a CM deficit? The deal reeks of last minute duct tape measures. And if it is the only deal we do conclude, then my previous questions bear a lot of validity.
I will wait till the window closes. But I have zero expectations. We have been down this road way too many times. I see no signs of change.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
Any of you were actually expecting a CM?
Because all I could read was about a striker or a Winger. Arsene going for Kallstrom is out of expected and a good move to cover up Ramsey and Flamini.
It's not like we were going to sign DDR and getting Kallstrom instead. Give him a chance. He is a good player

I have nothing against using the window to help us in a position where we have a sudden and unexpected deficit. In fact, nobody would have forseen this, considering how well stocked we seemed a few months back. We were playing 5 midfielders around Giroud in November ffs!
The point for me is, AGAIN, we haven't used the window to push our trophy credentials positively.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
I have nothing against Kallstrom personally tbh, I will support him as any other Arsenal player, just disappointed that we ain't signing a winger instead. Oxlade-Chamberlain, Rosicky and Wilshere can cover for Ramsey but Gnabry and Oxlade-Chamberlain for RW is not good enough imo.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
We all know Wenger has a good loan signings record but why not a striker also?
We really need a scorer, unless he is going to give Podolski more game time?

I don't expect the Klose loan to happen but if it does a small part of me will be very excited, just because I'm a lifelong German NT fan (second to my home country of course). Sanogo and even Giroud could learn a lot from him.

He's a very good free kick taker.
I hope he won't lose his free kick ability as soon as he joins us like Cazorla and Arteta did

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
Kallstrom name's big .... in 2003 as young prospect as I remember he's linked to half Of Euro back then not freaking now, and he's not great player, only ok, slow as turtle.
I understand Wenger plan though 6th choice midfield loanee, during tough schedule playing duo Flamini- Kallstorm with Jack and Rambo fill in as emergency wingers, you mad
Seriously Vucinic seems like a freaking dream now, and should we get used to our own stingy self again? Ozil was just one off right? Last 3 window, Nacho, Sanogo, Flamini & Kallstorm, inspiring and ambitious.
