Kaka' has the highest fan base in China, one of the highest in South America and Asia. Atleast he brings a lot of money in merchandises.

in Ronaldo's and Kaka's case where their 50% image rights may cover majority salary due to their brand value. That's how things work. Ronaldo makes €14M from endorsements so the club gets around €7 M ending up paying only €4M additional. Kaka' earns around €9M

The kind of statements that you see (for example Dutti) here make me question peoples age. Have you ever been professional active in real life?

For starters, you are responsible for negotiating your own wage or in the case with football, you have your agent helping you out. If you can't reach an agreement with your employer you start looking for a new job (in the case of football, you don't sign a new contract and give the option to the club to sell you or just play your current contract out) Secondly, you earn your wage with time and with achievements, most professionals of any kind don't get into the top earning bracket of their careers in the start with exceptions ofcourse.

For example, I'm working at an office, my current role is that of a Project Manager, but I'm only 24 years old and don't have an university degree. Thus people at my office on similar positions with the same amount of responsibility who even work less but have more experience (are older) and have more education earn almost 1/3 more than me.

I could be mad about working as hard as anybody with as much responsibility while getting less money. Or I can suck it up, work hard and trust that rewards come to those who wait. As well as I can learn to negotiate effectively when that time of the year comes around.

In the case of Kaká, he have through achivements placed himself in his earning bracket. There might be more hungry and currently better performing players in his team and certainly in the world who earn way less. But they haven't worked as many years and consistently gotten their wage raised through achievements the way he has. And they probably don't have the same marketing value which in the case of Kaká basically pays the wage back to the club.

Cant blame him when you look at that list there.

But why sign the deal in the first place, he was always a better player than that type of money.

I dont think anyone goes Madrid just for the money, or even primarily, they are too strong a team with too great a history for players to simply think money first.

Welcome to real life, you'll see it works like this everywhere. The 55 y/o colleague of mine sitting 5 meters away who come to the office at 9 and go home 16, while I work from 8 to 19 is earning double my wage. Based on past achievements and a steady raise in his wage over 3 decades. It's not fair, but it's life. Someday I'll be that old man and some young fart will be thinking the same thing about me.

Yeah, of course many players go to other places for money. I dont think Madrid is one of them though.

Coentrao knew he might not start, but he probably thought if your paying 30m for him and half of Europe wanted him, you would use him well. So basically it was "role player for Madrid > starter at Benfica".

I dont agree with that order to be honest, ever player is different.

For some players yes, but for most players not at all.

On paper he's more qualified, just as Kaká is compared to Di Maria, more accolades, more achievements, more experience. But when it comes to producing for the company he's doing the bare minimum while I'm working my ass off and doing a damn fine job which I also get credit for. Still I can't go to management and say "look at his wage and mine, I want the same I've done this and that..." because it doesn't work that way.
