There is a ton of money in football, its only right alot of it goes to the players. Whats the problem with that?

Would you prefer chairmen and board members take it for themselves? Or worse still, let the club just sit on it and do nothing with it?

40,000 a year is not a factory working. Interesting fact is that %63 of the spanish make less than 1100 a month.

Football is an industry.

Every industries that applies modern management knows the merits of differential payment system.hah,if it wasnt for messi ? if it wasnt for top players like messi football as a industry will not be here,who want to watch 22 schools boys playing football?

The amount of money pumped into football is insane and players are the core of this industry,the artists,the workers,they deserves every penny they gets.

Its not like Cubs are charity foundations or players are kidnapping club presidents for a pay rise you know?

You have to see the bigger picture. Messi gets 10m per year but the club also makes money from him. shirt sales, image right, people who buy tickets to see his games, etc etc. if you sum it up you'd understand Messi is getting a fair amount of money.

Also compare this 10m Messi gets per year to other footballers. Rooney, if i'm not mistaken makes 6m per year. so it's not only Messi who gets shit load of money.

One thing we should understand is that Messi would not be making so much money if we did not like watching football. Actors would not make so much money if we did not watch movies. Bill Gates would not make so much money if we still liked to work without computers.

Anyone with a skill that can be used to produce something that can be sold to people will make money. And that money is deserved in my opinion unless it is unethical.

Now, does Messi need so much money? Hell no. He can choose to accept a normal llifestyle, give rest of the money to the club or charity and still be happy as he is doing something that he loves, like Izzy pointed out. There are several examples of businessmen and owners of large companies who take home a minute portion of the profits and use the rest of the money for social work or for their companies.

In short, do they deserve it? Yes. Do they need it? No.

@ kiranr... if you're good at something you would get paid according to ur work effort.. that is why good footballers are highly paid with clear exceptions( diaby, milner, almunia etc)..

and to reply to the tred, If Kaka is selling a product to me, I would rather buy it than if Di maria is the face of that product

kaka is no longer a footballer , he is a Brand

you buying the brand not the "shirt", the nike or adidas logo has more value than any other logo

If more people thought like you then, footballers would not be paid as much. But they dont, and hence footballers are paid a lot of money.

Aleumdance. You dont get paid according to your effort during work. You get paid for generating money for the institution you work for. In most cases, achieving that requires hard work.

actually footballers deserve the money they get considering they do something that attracts millions of people not only watching it but also bet on it tons of money therefore can change people's lifes as well ..

Sounds stupid you know just "kick a ball" and earn so much but if its that simple why dont every1 do it?

As much as i see the point and that a doctor for a expample is more worthy for that ammount of money than a footballer i also see the other side that a sick person would remain sick if that was the only way to keep watching "people kicking a ball" - ( football )

Pointing out in order for this magic kicking ball game to played FAIR and at it's best the users of it ( footballers ) should be paid a big ammount of money :shisha:
