Re: Pirlo
It's actually ridiculous how much Pirlo does for a team. Honestly it's a bit harder to judge Xavi for me because I barely watch Barcelona, only out of clasico / la liga.... and Pirlo is much more distinctive to see. Honestly when you watch Juve play now all you can see is Pirlo bossing everyone around with his sexy hair flapping in the wind... you watch barcelona play Xavi's just one of many with his gelled hair. So I'll keep the Xavi vs. Pirlo out of it.
Al I know for sure is he's absolutely incredible. I can't even describe it. I don't mean to turn this into a Messi/Ronaldo thread... but I am one of the most underappreciative of midfielders and I see a player like him bringing more value into the team, and Pirlo is just something I can absolutely admire. Long range passing, short range passing, even tackling.... I can't see Juve without him anymore.
Legend. Lmao I don't know what the Azzurri would do without him.

I wouldn't trust the opinion of any of those until they become coaches.
Pele said a lot of stuff, and we all make fun of him.
On topic, Pirlo is boss and I don't feel the need to compare him to other greats because watching him makes a case for itself.

You lose the bragging rights there my friend.
You sold him to Milan where he developed into a star, not to mention Carletto's brilliant move
to play him as a DLP.

worst transfer in Inter's history, probably worse that trading seedorf for a wanna be movie star or trading cannavaro for a 3rd choice keeper, but hey, fabregas didnt make a single appearance for Barca before this season and we all know how his DNA turned out to be, at least Pirlo play a whole season for inter :study:

Re: Pirlo
speaking of seedorf, this guy is so under rated by everyone ! sure he's no pirlo or zidane, but he's close to these guys and he deserves a mention in such a thread. The fact that he doesnt shine on an individual level doesnt mean he's an average player as his presence was equally important to Milan's success in the past decade as that of nesta and kaka

Re: Pirlo
Wrong, Pirlo and Xavi are better. Scholes is master of one touch passing. Whenever a playmaker is under pressure he has to pass or move forward with the ball at his feet. Scholes's problem, he can't create space for himself with the ball at his feet so he relies entirely on availability of passing option and his own off the ball movements to receive a pass. Pirlo or Xavi can move with the ball and pass. A simple flaw but a big one in international level because you can't dominate possession if you can't carry the ball under pressure.jibers wrote:RedEyesWhiteBeard wrote:St_Nick09_of_Goal wrote:Jibers i think he is better than Scholes

In terms of ability, he ranks up there with the elite, no doubt. Application, a different story, his temperment let him down. The tier of players I have seen he is definately up there. Best foreign player La liga in the last 20 years for a reason.

Even funnier, just because Riquelme didn't play for top tiers all his life he isn't another player. He was Zidane level.
Riquelme could do anything Xavi can do and better. Even in Barca system, Riquelme would be overwhelming.
There is a reason why Riquelme couldn't play for top club. He tried it in Barcelona, it didn't work. Then when he fall out Villarreal, no one wanted to buy him, and he was available almost for free. And there is a reason for that too.
He isn't suited for modern football. His technique and vision are undeniable, but he doesnt have answer for presing and high tempo games.
Comparing him with Zidane is beyond any common sense.

Andrea Pirlo... Just how good?
Where does he rank among you guys in the best midfielders of the past 15 years or so. For me
He's right up there. He's won it all and he form has carried into his 30's. Proud to say he's played for all my 3 teams .. Reggina , Juve and Italy lol . Even now I'd call him one of the best midfielders In the world. All that face him still talk of his amazing presence on the field

You realise Riquelme played for Barca and flopped hard?
Also What does Pirlo do outside of controlling the flow and passing?
They are both regista's ffs its what they are supposed to do

Yep and explain how that is anything different to what Xavi does?
The both do the same thing..... they both control the flow, they both have amazing first touches, they both have an amazing range of passing.....
Seriously this system bullocks has got to stop, just to make your favourite player seem better
Again what does Pirlo do outside of controlling the flow and passing?
I'll be interested to see this BS that comes my way, btw theres nothing wrong with this its what a regista is supposed to do ffs.
