Catching up with Messi and Ronaldo
Well since the past couple of seasons it has pretty much been Messi and Ronaldo topping the goal-scoring charts.
I guess this season, its more or less the same.Honestly it has gone to such an extreme level that even finishing third to Ronaldo and Messi is an incredible accomplishment.
I find it wierd that some of the most lethal finishers in the game currently such as Cavani ,Gomez and Falcao are relatively inferior to Ronaldo and Messi in terms of goalscoring and the incredible thing is they dont normally occupy Striker's positions.
There was a time when World-class Centre forwards were dominating the Goal-Scoring charts.Do you guys think this Ronaldo-Messi monopoly will end anytime soon ?Or Maybe even this season ?

Re: Catching up with Messi and Ronaldo
Its going to be tough.
CR will always score truckloads of goals.
And Messi is arguably the most lethal finisher in the game.He needs just half a chance.
So I dont see anybody catching up.Maybe Gomez.

Re: Catching up with Messi and Ronaldo
Before never been a Messi, an attacking midfielder with scoring abilities that pure strikers would be proud of + dribbling helps him a lot see how many goals he scores after dribbling. Finding all these abilities in one striker would be hard.
Plus media and internet are improved they made messi vs ronaldo rivalry bigger than pele vs maradona, they score 40% of their goals thx to this rivalry

Re: Catching up with Messi and Ronaldo
Well Ronaldo is 26 now and is arguably in his peak years.Messi is still 24 and maybe there is still more to come from him.
Could that possibly lead us to a point where Centre forwards being completely overshadowed by the two ?
Well i mean all these strikers like Gomez ,Cavani ,Falcao even Higuain most definitely fall under the Messi-Ronaldo era and not to mention the extreme amount of media hype both of them recieve.
Would their careers be less glorified with these two literally in-human footballers still going strong ?

Re: Catching up with Messi and Ronaldo
Well, Messi and Ronaldo do have the advantage to play in teams that seem to dominate their fellow league clubs at will and thus they obviously get more chances to score goals.

Gomez is easily 3rd.
But you know, in a competitive league.
AND he's banging them in the NT, too.

Just a matter of time before Neymar,Hazard and Gotze go to bigger teams.
I have a feeling Neymar and Hazard will both end up in Madrid someday

Neymar, Hazard or Goetze won't alter the scoring charts, though.
They will add to the scoring chart, more like

Re: Catching up with Messi and Ronaldo
well that is true,i dont see them scoring more than 50 goals a season....
maybe(maybe) Neymar since hes more of a striker rather than the others and he already scored 62 last season
