I still think its harsh to call him a mercenary at all he didnt go to Juve for a larger pay check or leave when Bilbao is in trouble. He just wants to win in Italy and in Europe at his age and that's acceptable. If he went to let's say Barca or RM then I would join you in calling him a mercenary.

We understand his claims, we do not criticize what he did, just HOW he did. Btw,we still expect that he do his best in Torino. You signed a great 9. Thumbs up

Dredg has explained it well.

Athletic fans were so ingrained with their love with Llorente, who was held as an icon and goldenboy within San Mames, that the ill-mannered fashion to which he wanted to leave Athletic Club, was the reason for their turn against him. Javi Martinez is still loved because he took a straightforward approach and helped Athletic acquire the sum paid for him.

It doesn't change their view of him as a player as we all know how good he was for Athletic along with his capabilities. I can see in Dredg's words that now that Llorente has acquired his desire, he'll be as professional as ever within Juventus, a club he was wanted to move ever since childhoood.

Jibers, I think Ander Herrera has more potential to surpass Zidane himself. You see, given that Ander is Basque, which by default makes him better than most; he has been performing at levels to which makes him around the some of the best midfielders in the world.

One or two more years, I see him surpassing the Frenchman's legacy. If he wasn't Basque, then it wouldn't be as simple.

Bravi Dredg :coffee:

Excellent game as Beñat played as if he's been with Athletic for years. Good to see new signing Kike Sola on the sheet. Heard the women opposite my side of Donostia already taken a liking to Sola!

@AltoZ: Wonderful words! Your support is appreciated very much.

Outside the pathetic Osasuna who lost 1-2 to Granada. An excellent week for Basque teams.

Athletic prevailed over Valladolid 1-2
Real Sociedad destroyed Getafe 2-0

And now a La Real, who lost Phillipe Montanier & Asier Illaramendi, beat one of the strong French giant, Olympique Lyonnais 0-2 in the Stade Gerland.

Basque Reprisal now reaches Europe. Arrasate as predicted, has shown his immense talent as a manger.

Video here of Athletic training at "home" in the ANOETA! Since San Mames Barria has not been fully finished yet.

Villarreal and athletic can't shoot for top 4. At best Villarreal can get a top half finish and athletic a Europa league spot. It's between Valencia, sevilla and real sociedad

Fernando Llorente with 6 goals in the last 7 games with 3 assists, scores his typically clutch winner in the dying minutes vs Udinese. The Lion has returned.

Iker Munain with 2 straight clutch winners, the previous one vs FC Barcelona in their 1st La Liga loss, proves why he has been Athletic's best player this season.

Txingurri bai Txingurri bai Txingurri Ernesto Valverde slowly wins over his critiques due to adopting the more pragmatic Basque manager but has once again proven at how underrated he remains. Superb manager.

Athletic triumph over Barcelona
La Real triumphs over Espanyol

Euskal Herria>Catalonia.

Barcelona fans are quite devestated by the loss in Anoeta versus La Real as its few times you see the La Liga champions outplayed in such convincing fashion. I wouldn't take much shame in it aside from the points lost. Why? Well considering La Real have not lost in the Anoeta (La Liga) in over 5 months, or the fact that they are unbeaten versus FCB in Anoeta since 06/07 must have a contribution to it.

Arrasate always had promise in his managerial career as Montanier personally hand-picking the understudy had little to do with it. Arrasate had a slow start in finding his feet within the club, sticking to the Montanier blueprint yet choosing to expand upon his own ideas that were shouted at deaf ears within Donosti. Coping with the loss of the vital Illaramendi had him look for the ostracised jewel of San Sebastian, Ruben Pardo who has been nothing short of outstanding this season as these risks only represent a fraction of the storied season Arrasate has shared with the Sociedaxi.

Yesterday, he took upon the risk to bench Ruben Pardo and Xabi Prieto to go with a more robust midfield with Elustondo, Bergara and the underrated Zurutuza with Vela, Griezmann and new boy Canales afforded unlimited freedom up front.

90 minutes ended and Barcelona looked baffled as to the organized brimstone of Basque fury that came upon them.

Best performers were undoubtedly David Zurutuza in his wonderful quarter-back role and Canales who is showing to be a revelation under Arrasate as given his talent and performances in Valencia we are left in little doubt as to what he will contribute within Donostia.
Íñigo didn't put a foot wrong and contributed to many counter-attacks with his passes from the back and the unorthodox use of Elustondo was a stroke of genius.

Anoeta was bouncing like anything I've witnessed in a long time, it was a sea of Txuri-urdin that defines the fortress that had been made once again.

Athletic Club gain a 0-2 victory over Betis, Iker Muniain and Susaeta the finest performers.

As we speak; Navarese Osasuna lead 3-0 in the El Sadar over Atletico Madrid.

Basques pls
