He would have earned the victory by having a higher IQ than the Kenyan.
Intelligence is an attribute in sports too you know.Sports isn't just about physical attributes.
If that was me I would have ran past him and celebrated my well deserved victory.
Higher IQ? Intelligence? What?
Anaya simply didn't capitalize on the arbitrary mistake of the Kenyan by not exploiting his 10M mistake. Anaya wouldn't deserve the victory if he crossed the line based on taking a minor technical mistake but instead showed class and sportsmanship to boost the runner into the victory he earned.

You mean a unforgivable retarded mistake? It's like forgetting were the goal line is in football and just rolling the ball past the 6 yard box line then run away celebrating.
If that was me I would have ran straight past him and claimed a deserved victory.Deserved because I am not a retard like the Kenyan and I have a winning mentality unlike the Basque.
That's why I also commend what Luiz Adriano did in the CL,he showed balls and a winning mentality. He did what he was paid to do,do whatever he can to win matches for Shakhtar.

Completely different examples.
When you run an endurance run your cognitive and motor functions are not exactly optimal given that your body is robbed of all its nodes providing the homoeostatic message to the brain but conserving that "liquid steroid" for optimal endurance. In layman's terms you can't exactly blame a guy who ran a marathon that has you gasping for precious air. One small mistake after deservingly triumphing over everyone in a run doesn't justify one to drop their element of class and sportsmanship.
I don't know what dog-eat-dog mentality you have but Anaya has far more praise for his display of class then simply capitalizing on a technical error.

You know I play sports as well and I am quite competitive; I've worked hard to get where I'm at and while I don't play professionally, I take pride in what I do. I would like for my hard work to get me where I am, not a silly mistake by an opponent who has already shown (on this given day) that he was superior to me. "Well deserved" victory, I guess that truly comes down to ones perception, but it's clear to me you would tell yourself anything in order to feel better about yourself. Let's be honest with ourselves, finishing second is no easy feat and while it's not the first place finish you were working towards, it is nothing to be ashamed of.

Higher IQ? Well great abilities you have there my friend, i never sean measuring the IQ by a person's single act in stressful environment. But i guess yours is rather high to be able to do so.
Ivan has shown what sports is about IMHO. It is not just about winning , but winning bo following some ethical guidelines. The Kenyan guy could have simply mistaken an add panel for a finish line. But, we do not know what was there and what happened. And I certainly do not know the IQ of anyone there. What i know is that Ivan has deserved the second place, and did not want a first place based on some mistake, when he would always know that he is not faster or more enduring than the first guy.

Meh, take your tainted win...dont know what good you get out of it, you know you aint the best.
Winning aint nothing if you know deep down you aint the best and thats exactly what it would be by running past the Kenyon. You can spout intelligence and whatever other technicality garbage all you want, whatever I do, I do to be the best, winning that way doesnt make you the best at all.

Re: From Basque Country with Love
Really? I would do anything to win... You think the 2nd place guy isn't exhausted too? If I was in his position, the opportunity in front of him would be like the red sea parting. A miracle. The opportunity would give me enough adrenaline to sprint to that finish without thinking.
I wouldn't for one second think I didn't deserve the win. There would definitely be feelings of compassion afterwards, maybe go over and have a word or two for the guy, but never would I say "sorry". hey, I would have the medal and my feelings of elation would in no way be tainted.
Got a bunch of silly hippies on this forum...

But I would be the best, otherwise why didn't the other guy win?
And long distance running is effected by intelligence as well, half of it is knowing what pace to go and when to slow down or speed up,when to take a drink etc.
The other guy obviously would have had less intelligence/composure/concentration to me.These are all attributes in every sport.
I don't care how I win,I would literally spit in another players face to win the CL.This is why I admire Luiz Adriano, imagine if he wins the CL this year do you think he will care what a couple of nobodys on the internet says?

Re: From Basque Country with Love
I am that guy who is willing to hear everyone out and while I am still that guy, way too many respected posters have come in here and crushed your logic. Sure, you are entitled to that opinion, but being the best is not for you to decide and had you pulled that type of stunt, you would be one of few who actually think you are the best. In fact, not only would you not be the best (based on majority opinion of course), but you would get less respect (if any at all) than what you would have gotten had you finished in second place.
I do not think anyone here is debating if there intelligence involved in running, how else would Mutai have ended up in first place? Anyway, this will be my last response to you because it is clear to me that you could never grasp such a basic concept with such a closed mind.

Re: From Basque Country with Love
Again, the goal is to pass over the finish line first.Everybody starting the race knows that, everyone knows the rules and objective of the event beforehand so nobody is at a disadvantage. If I pass over the line first I am the best man at this event(at least on that given day)by definition.
I wouldn't/don't care about anybodys respect, especially people who I don't know on a internet forum,my goal at the start of the race wouldn't be to gain peoples respect but to win the race and I would have achieved that, without breaking any rules to boot.
So in theory you lot could celebrate by lifting your imaginary moral trophy while I would be celebrating with the real trophy knowing I was the best man on the day.

Re: From Basque Country with Love
though as i expressed my self before admiring what he did, i wonder if it was solely a pure action clemency or he was aware that doing what he did will have him recognised as a good character, represent proudly his country given the action which also shares an anti-racistic message or avoid all the negative reaction towards him for the way he would have won.
or
he just didnt want to win that way xd

I don't think there was enough time to process all that you mentioned, I believe he just reacted to the situation and it showed his good character.

lol you are right, given the intensity and the momentum its improbable for him to think that way i mentioned.

I hope he breaks a leg at his new team then.. both figuratively and physically.
I won't be surprise if Bilbao seeks compensation from Juve though.

Classy.
And now can Bilbao get compensation when Juve sign a free agent?

Re: From Basque Country with Love
Real Sociedad overcoming Barcelona 3-2
Athletic Club destroying Atletico 3-0
Osasuna being robbed and dominating Barcelona despite losing 5-1 to them.
Is the moment where people will learn to cure their meat the Basque way? To have a Txokoli to accent their polenta rather then Sangria? To go for Pinxtos rather then the dull and burnt Spanish Tapa? To follow the Basque footballing way?
