Nasri scored today.

Against Chelsea, pretty much cementing our CL spot.

Totally worth selling him

Spurs run is much tougher than it looks, QPR and Bolton away fighting for survival. Sunderland away has been tough for everyone since Martin O'Neil took over.
Chelsea losing to Man City after being a goal up will definitely knock their moral, also they could be knocked out of the CL in the next month which will hurt even more.
Third place is ours to lose, players in good form and all looking to be playing with passion.

So uhm, do we have cheer for Spuds this weekend?

If they beat Chelsea, we would be 9 points clear (if we win our game), and that would basically lock up a Champions League spot. hmm

Nahh.. Hate Spurs too much, rather see Chelsea win. That would put us potentially 4 points clear of Spurs. Chelsea can take 4th if they want.

Generally in this sort of situation I always cheer for a draw. That way we can go a further two points ahead of both teams, and not just three ahead of one.

So if they draw with each other and we beat Villa we'd be 8 points ahead of Chelsea and 3 ahead of Spurs.

Besides, Spurs won't win at Stamford Bridge. They are pretty bad when they go away to the big teams.

I think we all have equally hard fixtures in all honesty

But perhaps spurs have the edge because they play just 1 big team unlike chelsea and Arsenal.

I think we will drop points in the City and stoke matches. Chelsea game will be unpredictable

The positive thing with our fixture is that we got both Chelsea and City at home. We will surely drop some points but so will Chelsea and Spurs.

Even if for example we draw all 3 games you mentioned 20-21 points and we will get 3rd
with spurs desperate for all 3 points against sunderland that will play in to black cats hands to face a team they can hit on counters despite being terrible against Rovers
also sigurdsson to run riots at WHL Very Happy
how did stoke get 1 point there Laughing ?

Rival Watch - Page 25 Empty Re: Rival Watch

Post by Jay29 Fri Mar 23, 2012 12:08 am

The key for us will be to not drop points in the games where we would be fully expected to win. From that list, I'd say:

Villa
Wolves
Wigan
Norwich
West Brom

Are the games where anything but a win would be a big disappointment.

These games are a bit unpredictable:

QPR
Chelsea
Stoke

Although QPR are down in that relegation battles it's a Mark Hughes side, with physical players, a hostile environment and shitty pitch. So it's by no means a sure victory.

You'd think home advantage would give us the egde against Chelsea but in games between big sides you can never be sure who will win. I think the winner of that one won't necessarily be whoever is in the better form, but who has the greater desire to win and who copes better with the pressure.

Stoke away is one where you'd say we will definitely drop points but whenever we've lost at Stoke it's always when we're not in form or have a plethora of injuries. The one time we've gone their playing with some confidence and our best players available we've won. So for that reason I am confident we can win there, especially if we have Vermaelen and Koscielny playing well.

Finally, the City game is probably one we can afford to lose. A win against them would be a bonus, in my opinion, but to drop points to them wouldn't be a disaster.

You can never quite tell what will happen but if I were to forcast how I think these fixtures will go, it'd be like this:

Aston Villa - Win
QPR - Lost
Man City - Draw
Wolves - Win
Wigan - Win
Chelsea - Draw
Stoke - Lost
Norwich - Win
West Brom - Draw

That's me being a bit on the pessimistic side, anyway.
