Zarate: Totti is no Phenomenon

Mauro Zarate attacked Francesco Totti ahead of tonight’s Inter-Roma clash. “He’s not a phenomenon.”
The former Lazio striker moved to the Nerazzurri on transfer deadline day and finds himself in what still feels like a derby. He was also the man who famously said Totti was “finished” as a player last year.

“I said that and the media turned it into a huge scandal, but you say things like that to the papers,” Zarate told the Corriere dello Sport.

“In any case, the phenomenons are those who win the Ballon d’Or... Roma have many good players. I like Bojan Krkic and Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, so we must be careful.

“I had been offered to Roma years ago, but the Giallorossi directors said I wasn’t the player they were looking for, so I ended up at Lazio.”

Zarate left the Biancocelesti following a row with Coach Edy Reja, who he blames for his failure to find success in Rome.

“Reja came to me and said something that I don’t want to repeat, because it’s only right that it remains in the locker room. I’m not like others who go around telling everyone what happens behind closed doors.

“After that meeting, I decided to join another club. I think the only one who didn’t want me at Lazio was Reja. It wasn’t the way I wanted to go.

“Now I am at Inter, the biggest team in the world. Lazio are a great club too, but here you fight for different objectives. I’ve always said I wanted to win everything.”

What I am not understanding is how a youngster who spends more time hogging the ball and making homo-erotic in his bathroom then actually winning critics can criticize a world cup winner, a symbol of one of the greatest cities in the world and and one of the best #10s of all time.

He has a very simple way of looking at things as well as disrespectful.

I guess Allan Simonsen, Oleg Blokhin, and Micheal Owen are all better then him based on his logic.

Maybe if Beckenbauer, Baggio, or Keegan downplayed him, it would be justified (all though they wouldn't).

But Zarate? lol.

I truly hope Totti and Co. rip Intergentina apart.

Plus a past his prime Totti did more last year (17 goals plus his general play) then Zarate has done his most successful year.

Better ways? Well he does that buy hogging the ball like my 2 year old cousin hogs his birthday toys.

They've had bad blood between each other since three years..I seriously cannot recollect but i think its Totti who kick started this feud after the Rome derby i think,really dont remember for what reason..I guess Zarate is still butthurt from those incidents and holds a grudge against Totti probably..

Re-Read what was written please. Andiii calling Totti a twat has nothing to do with him being good or not good, and as for myself, all I said was that he isn't a phenomenon, which he isn't...Not all good players are phenomenons, lets not butcher the language...

Bhends Totti is a Phenemon in Italy, in Serie A. The man is a legend.

But anyways, defend your little Zarate as you please.

I don't like Zarate. Totti isn't the nicest guy you'll ever meet but he's fantastic and better than Zarate will ever be.
