Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has commented on AC Milan's defensive approach at Camp Nou following a 2-2 draw in the Champions League.

The visitors could not have wished for a better start, breaking the deadlock right in the opening minute through Alexandre Pato, before Barca turned the score around with goals from Pedro and David Villa.

And just when the hosts thought they had secured the victory, Thiago Silva silenced the Camp Nou with an injury-time header that forced the two clubs to share the spoils.

After the game, Guardiola talked about AC Milan's stuffy defensive performance, saying: "It is never easy to attack when their midfielders convert into centre-backs.

"If they have to defend in the penalty box, they do it. Milan have a lot of merit for this result.

"They reached our goal two-and-a-half times and they got a point. Pato would have left even Usain Bolt in his wake as he chased the ball for the opening goal.

"European teams like this reinforce even more what we have done."

The 40-year-old played down the negative result in their opening Champions League game and stressed there is a lot left to play in the competition.

"We had a good match and if we consider the 90 minutes, we see we had a good match, we closed down Milan, though there are things we have to improve," Guardiola noted.

"This is the first of six matches and we have five games ahead."

If this is from Goal.com, then it is mistranslated.

He never said: "They reached our goal two-and-a-half times and they got a point", that was put in by Goal.com

He said that:"If Milan have to defend, they will. And they get merit for that "

The line I mentioned to be put in Goal.com was never mentioned in another credible site.

This does show what we have done in these 3 years.

If as team as good as Milan have to defend in that way and could only create a few chances because of that, then it shows how good we are and how they are aware of that fact.

Mlan didnt defend like that against Lazio for a reason.

As always, people like you looking to invent crap. Normal people I think we see through your effort though.

Its speaks more volumes of the difference in economical level between Barca and Milan, and the difference in personal. It is not like Milan have the best players in the world you know.

This is a team assembled using cut price deals, and free transfers, and old players. Not a team assembled specifically to win the CL. We "defended for our lives" because we are not obliged to bend over for Barca. Each team plays with its strengths. Our strongest players are in defense, why the hell would we adopt an attacking formation. Our midfield is wither inexperienced, average, or past it. And Allegri knew Cassano would not work against Barca but had to use him because we had no one else.

Why would he say that if we win the game? It wouldnt make sense. He said they had 2 and a half shots and point. Why would he say Levante had 1 shot and got zero points?

Why would you question an offside goal when you win a game? How would that make sense? Why would you bother to talk about it? Better yet, nobody will even ask you about it.

If someone asked him about the offside, it obviously would be in a game we didnt win.

This is common sense.

So what? They defended like that the whole game, before and after Boateng..every team plays like that against us. They were just better at it then most.

How is having a slow midfield have to do with anything?

why wouldnt you ask about offside since its not even allowed be it you win or not

by your logic if gyan had scored from that penalty kick it would have been stupid of the journalists to ask the ghanian coach about the obvious hand....now do you see the concept.

yh but does he have to comment on their mids turning into CBs, its got nothing to do with him, his job is to make sure his team wins not make criticizing comments when obviously the other team used its own style to get a result

AC Milan coach play tactic for the result he want.

I think he planned the the group campiagn as below:

Barca away draw
Minnows away and home win.
Barca at home win.

Take first place in group and avoid giants early.
