Yeah if you want to go back to the old style, it's called Legacy Defending in settings.

I heard that won't be an option for online play... So might as well get used to it, unless someone just plays offline all day

Btw... WHY DOES PES HAVE A BETTER COVER FFS... How can EA not get Cristiano or Messi??

I don't think the tactical defending can really work. In real life every player control themselves fast enough to deal with an attack.

However on FIFA you have to change the cursor which obviously takes time. Because of it the opponent can walk to the box and score.

Offline, maybe, but Tactical Defending is mandatory online so I fail to see how it's a poor marketing attempt.

Other than making the passing more 'weighty' and the 'tactical defending' there don't seem to be many changes.

However it's still the demo.

It feels like EA is really encouraging build up play this year. Unfortunately for me because my style is usually just lightning quick counter attacks. Sad

Yeah man, once they get in some space they fly, which is good because before CBs could catch up to almost everyone

be serious fifa fanboys, i didnt play fifa 11 but i guarantee that 99.8% of fifa players will revert to Legacy Defending, online and offline, otherwise they will receive massive butt abuse. The button mapping for Tactical defending is awful in itself. Too much work just to steal the ball, big joke, used to play fifa, and that thing will get people frustrated.

As soon as i turned on Legacy defending the game was a lot better, but when Villa went wide to cross high for Messi to head, which he won in front of kompany, i stood up, i made a prayer and i turned off my xbox

Yeah, I've kept it on Tactical, I'm getting used to it.

And EA is too cheap to pay what it would cost to get Messi or CR7 on the cover.

Yup, anyone who defends FIFA is a fanboy. Rolling Eyes

Tactical Defending is mandatory for online ranked matches. You can't switch back to Legacy Defending. Offline, sure, but I don't see much wrong with EA attempting to cater to anyone other than casual players for once.

EA also let you configure the controls to suit your preference. Don't like the button mapping? Just change it to something that'd suit you better.

I'm not going to sit here and call it a perfect or even a great system, because it's not. But you're criticising things that you can actually change, which makes very little sense.

Pretty sick, the Bergkamp thing was needed for sure because its done more often these days.

If you want to be ultra picky (I am) in the video Silva did that 180 scoop with his right foot, when in real life he wouldnt ever do it with that foot.

Yes, im picky like that lol

My playstation is sitting at my home in London, I leave Portugal on friday and I got someone to download it for me.

I guess I can put my opinion on it then.

I think every time there is a new FIFA, people like the new changes to start with and then they realise that its different to what they are used to and thus hard and thus complaining.

I see alot of people complaining about the tactical defending and such, but I reckon in 3 months when you are consistently playing the game and figuring out what you can and cant do you wont have a problem defending.

I hate E.A for some of the things they do not just in FIFA but other titles, but I like the sound of what they are trying to do.

The homing missle defending was pretty poor, you got no joy out of defending other then a last ditch tackle. Trying to actually time tackles and read when you can make one (thats the impression I get from what tactical defending is) sounds like it could be rewarding. Nothing better then reading someones intentions and winning the ball.

What I worry about though is the offline A.I. In previous FIFA's it felt like tricks and skill moves were random and sometimes they worked sometimes they didnt and it wasnt in your control. They rarely fall for feints and never fall for hesistation.

I expect there will be flaws, there always is and there always will be, im just hoping that there is a great degree of realism.

I tihnk in the end, what I want is them to realise and then produce a game in which the smartest players are the best, the players with skill are the best...not the ones who are fast, strong and run forever.

I agree. It's quite a big change and people generally don't accept change straight away, but given time they will. In fact, I'm already getting used to the system and this is just my second day of playing.

The homing missle defending was pretty poor, you got no joy out of defending other then a last ditch tackle. Trying to actually time tackles and read when you can make one (thats the impression I get from what tactical defending is) sounds like it could be rewarding. The key to the new system is pretty much anticipating what your opponent is going to do and positioning yourself accordingly. It's difficult, especially since the opposition players move so fast, but it's far more realistic than the old system. Tackling the skillful and quick players is far more of a challenge. I've been embarrassed numerous time diving into and mistiming tackles... as it should be.

What I worry about though is the offline A.I. In previous FIFA's it felt like tricks and skill moves were random and sometimes they worked sometimes they didnt and it wasnt in your control. They rarely fall for feints and never fall for hesistation.

It's easier in general to dribble around players, especially with pace. I don't usually use that many tricks, but I can tell you stepovers work quite well, as does the new precision dribbling if you can time it successfully.

Got FIFA 12 pre-ordered though so I will end up playing it more of course, or will I exchange it for PES? Shocked

PC version is identical to the console version which is nice. They screwed up the distribution of it though so you have to uninstall fifa 11 or use weird hacks. Also my gamepad took some playing around with to get it working, initially the game wouldn't start.

Once I got it running though it's very nice, same as on PS3(but my gamepad isn't as nice as my ps3 controllers). I'd say it actually runs better as my computer outperforms the PS3 easily, so everything loads faster etc and the graphics are just as good.
