I know some French and there're 3 new Spanish students at my uni. One of them, a chick, wants to learn German fast, in exchange she offers Spanish.
My question, do you know an English-> Spanish based book with basic of the basics? Very Happy

There is an I-Phone app for learning Spanish, try that LOL

Or do it the old fashion way just go to a language centre and take some classes.

I learn a lot faster the old school way. First, how to pronounce letters and letter combos, then basic grammer with vocabulary, excersises afterwards=> speak to a native speaker-> read stuff in Spanish (Marca, here, I come Very Happy

). Language centers are too slow or too fast for me Very Happy

I like to go with my own pace Very Happy

OK, that's cool.

A nice trick for learning is to watch a Spanish movie with English sub-titles.

Later you can then watch an English movie with Spanish sub-titles.

I hear it's an effective (and fun) tool.

It works! I always watched movies in English from my high school time otherwise I would' ve forgotten most of it by now Very Happy

get whatever teaching method the US foreign service uses... those are by far the best.

Note: It's called the Foreign Service Institute. Amazon has their course books.

Was that any good? I know (well, kinda) Italian, so its not too hard for me. I kind of understand most stuff in Spanish, but I wouldnt say I know the language. It would be nice to learn one day though.

Unless you want to speak/write fluently, which takes quite a while as you have to know the language very well, I wouldnt mess around with complex grammar and stuff.
