The transfer fee is still excessive imo, and there's no guarantee that this kid will fullfill his potential or hasn't already .. But i understand the nature of the deal also that it takes place between Epl teams could've influenced the total amount.

McEachran will be offloaded just like every other Chelsea youngster . Probably will be playing in championship in 5 years .Just adding fact to the thread .

Exactly.
And people were jumping on Liverpool for paying that much but my point is,
He if becomes a bum at Liverpool. We still have 2-3 years to check if he can still prove his worth. If not he can still be sold at a high price considering he will be below 25 even after 3 years.

16-12 was reasonable , also the fact that Sunderland didn't want to sell him yet, could also indicate that they were planning on selling at a later stage to get a heftier sum for him. So this could be where the extra* 3-5 mill came from. Not saying this is how it went down, just speculating at this point.
