Why didn't we go after Meireles?

Well it's not clear if he would tbh, maybe he was promised first team action at the Bridge. I wouldn't be surprised if he was not starting for Chelsea too.

No way he starts for Chelsea. However, since Chelsea plays a 4-3-3 exclusively, they need more mids and he would be higher in the pecking order just because of formation.

Ramires is pretty untouchable to me. Not a pretty player to watch... but does all the dirty work. Right now, he's what Coentrao is to us... but lacking Coentrao's final ball ability. That's Ramires' weakness.

Yeah, if he had a good final ball he would have been superb, but I guess his runs make up for it (which often sees him running ahead of the strikers even, which is how we got our second goal against Norwich).
