An Italian affair Empty An Italian affair

Post by Mr Nick09 Thu Sep 01, 2011 10:32 am

Two standout clubs in this summer transfer market in Italy, were Juventus and Roma.

Both full of ambition, both looking to rekindle the days of a past glory.

New owners for Roma, injection of cash for Juventus with a New stadium, they made signings in a bunch.

Ziegler, Lichsteiner, Vidal, Vucinic, Elia, Estigarribia, Pirlo, and a new coach in Conte for juventus.

Stekelenburg, Nego, Jose Angel, Kjaer, Gago, Pjanic, Heinze, Osvaldo, Bojan, Lamela and a new coach in Luis Enrique for Roma.

Great transfer campaign from both side this summer, which of the two club will go back on top the fastest, and maybe compete for a european seat, if not more?

Right now I say Roma, but if Enrique wants to bring Tiki TakaTM to Italy then good luck with that. Someone said earlier on here (forgot who, sorry) that Juve bought more quantity than quality and I feel the exact same way.

Actually, bar the fullbacks, seems to me that Roma bought more quality.

It's fair to say that Juventus had a stronger basis they need to upgrade, while Roma had to be revamped, so naturally they signed in all positions.

Inter is welcome to its favourite place-4th, not this season, but next.

Roma and Juve to be powerhouses next summer.

Not a bad squad...

GK Stekelenburg - Curci - Lobont

CB Burdisso - Juan - Kjaer

RB Cassetti- Cicinho- Rosi- Nego

LB Angel - Heinze and Cassetti can play there if we get really stuck.

MF De Rossi - Pizarro - Gago - Simplicio - Perrotta - Pjanic - Viviani - Greco - Taddei - Caprari - Lamela

CF Totti - Bojan - Borriello - Osvaldo -Borini - Okaka

Sabatini and Roma win. They had the best in my opinion, because when it comes to rebuilding a squad, you rebuild with youth and talent and by god, Roma have done it. Di Benedetto promised 6 players, some said he spoke to much and the man actually did more ! Great transfer Market by Roma ! Amazing, something Marotta does not understand, youth is needed. Juventus have an improved squad, but with the money we had, we could done much better, not too impressed. Though both squads did improve, now let's hope all four clubs can stay this way, including Napoli who keep growing

We had the better campaign, but I'm more interested in the end-product.

It's one thing to bring in 10 players, but quite another to get them working as a unit and getting results.

That's what's gonna be very telling for Juve and Roma.

yes both clubs have been very busy, and regarding the comment over juve buying in quantity not quality i cant disagree with that to much.

besides matri, pirlo, vidal and elia the rest im not completely sure of hopefully they come good.

i think we have a very solid team though overall with our current players plus the new additions we should atleast make top 3
