Re: Sergio Aguero Discussion
What if Benzema is not doing well during that same period? Do we still try to get him.
Also, Nick is right. I tend to defend Mourinho in most cases but luckily, I would wouldn't really bat an eye if Benzema leaves and Aguero comes. In fact, I think I may like it...

Man , it was my dream for benz to come to real madrid. To watch him leave after scoring 26 goals in 17 starts will hurt immensely.I loved real madrid long before I loved benz , but I loved benz long before he came to Real Madrid. That is just my "fanzemitis"
On an objective note , Aguero brings nothing to the squad we don't already have. All change is not growth, as all movement is not forward.

Re: Sergio Aguero Discussion
you cant say Aguero brings nothing we dont have. We dont have a forward who excels so much in closed space and can dribble and such high pace with close control. Short, very strong, great acceleration, great technique, very good finishing, a bit of magic, there are very very very few players like Aguero out there. The kid can pin back a whole defense on his own, ride challenges and suck up a great deal of attention.
we dont have that. The way the barca forum members get excited about him should give you an indication

Don't worry, we are all bias to one thing or the other. I believe Aguero would do a better job than Benzema and you believe with the reciprocal to that statement.
Nick dislikes Ronaldo and I think he's a dork for it. He should LOVE Ronaldo or

I am not sure but I think you just described Ronaldo or at leat what he could/should be.Also benzema can do most/if not all of those things . Except of course being short as he is not naturally built that way. Also aguero is a bit faster but with the speed demons we have in our team , that isn't really too neccesary.

No, this is the most important difference between both. Ronaldo needs SPACE to do his thing, he isnt very good at all in closed space. While it's the contrary for Aguero, he can go and take on one, two or three defenders with short and quick dribbles. His close control is superior to ronaldo, and it gives a lot of problems to defenders.
Think of the way Messi operate and how he goes at people with short strides, and use his body movements, agility and close control to destroy people. Aguero is a redux version of that.
That's the whole strength of barca, they are all short and good in closed spaces.

Re: Sergio Aguero Discussion
We don't really have an agile forward with good dribbling and speed, Aguero would provide that.

Re: Sergio Aguero Discussion
Hmmmm I see what you're saying but nick do you think that's gonna make a huge diffeence.I mean someones gonna need to get dropped for him to play and the way I see it Higuains finishing > Anything aguero can offer while Di Maria is a better than aguero on the wings And ozil's Vision and passing>anything aguero can offer.
Aguero would be a better fit for Barca than he would for us...
Anyway guys It's obvious most of you have a different opinion than me on this particualr subject. Maybe I am blinded by my "fanzemitis" but I am really trying to be objective in the matter .

you are underrating Aguero too much. He is a great finisher as well. On top of it, he will be playing with world class forwards, if you send two defenders on aguero, who is marking ronaldo and maria/benzema/ozil?
Aguero is more skillful than any of our strikers, and he probably is better than di maria at dribbling. the amount of problems that kid can create when he gets inside the box is insane.
Aguero is also very good at link up, people overlook that a lot. To me, mourinho is recognizing a problem here, teams are gonna sit back against us, and a guy like Aguero who is fantastic at penetrating can make a lot of difference.
He isnt a player you easily mark

Re: Sergio Aguero Discussion
@nick I suppose I am underrating him.TBH I have only watched about 15 of his games in about 4 years. IMO benz is a better finisher but that may no longer be the case, If he is what you say he is he will be an asset, but I will believe when I see it(hopefully never)

That's make sense. He has always been a fantastic finisher even when at Independiente. I guarantee you Josh that you wouldn't miss Benzema if Aguero shows up...

Lol for me that is impossible , I love his game too much, I love the way he slows down the pace with his immaculate first touch and his link up's with ozil and xabi etc, and his emphatic finishing. He is just the kind of player I like watching. He and ozil take me back to the days of ronaldo and zidane.
And on the other hand I really hate scrappy argentines, I mean I know tevez is a great player , but I hate to watch him play. Aguero can buy buy love like higuain did , with old fashioned heroism , but he'll never be the type of player I love to watch.
The only reason I said he was a bad finisher is because of the 20 games I've watched of him , in 6 or 7 he's had shockers in front of goal. But I understand that my judgement is not definitive, and if he turns out to be great i will definitely be the first give credit where it's due.

Re: Sergio Aguero Discussion
I like Benzema more than i do higuain for sure, i think his style his quite unique in football. if he was a midfielder spreading passes around, we would call him the new zidane.
I would personally keep Aguero and Benzema if we sign him, but i'm not sure it will happen.

It's Mourinho buying players now, not perez

Re: Sergio Aguero Discussion
I still think Flo holds an ultimate power to make the decision wether to buy the player or not. Mourinhio I think can now direct Flo towards whoever he wants him to buy but it's still flo's decision to shell out the cash and go through with the transfer.

Re: Sergio Aguero Discussion
well thats good, i hope that throughout the years, he influences the club and perez to understand how to make good purchases, no galactico things. im sure hes sat down or will sit down and explain some basics and put them into perspective.
if it is mourinho that wants him, we will see if he indeed does or doesnt in the end, obviously.
if he REALLY does we WILL get him, if he doesnt we wont.
and he likes higgy alot, benz will leave too similar in many ways to aguero.

Absolutely not buddy, im pretty damn sure of it. Mourinho is going to tell them what players he wants, explain why, and they will advise him. They can even propose some names, but there is no way perez is buying players out of his own whims.
Mourinho is in charge of the first team and the main moves within the squad, you cant shove a player down his throat.
Besides, mourinho is the one that came up with Aguero's now, and it just so happened that perez is a fan as well. im digging out the source.

Re: Sergio Aguero Discussion
@ nick I guess I didnt phrase my comment well. I meant to say perez has the ultimate power to vetoe/make a signing. So that he isn't obliged to just go out and buy whoever mourinhio wants .He will make his decision not just on player quality but based on economics etc etc.

Perez seems to have given Mou complete control. Aside from some crazy stuff that would deem it necessary he step in, he'll let Mou do what he wants

and with that power i hope mourinho changes alot of things.
no reason for perez to do anything we can define as stupid.
