Chiellini vs Pique

Chiellini all the way IMO

I'd have to say Chiellini but Pique is still young and is already at about his level

chiellini announced himself on the world stage with a superb perfomance against spain in euros..but i dont think pique has reached his peak yet but he's world class !!!

they are both great, but i dont know sometimes i see pique do some stupid crap, i rate pepe above him, yes :geek:

Chiellini for me. He would be better if he played in a team like Barca.

Pique's biggest problem is that he really isnt mentally there when it comes to playing smaller games.

In other words he does'nt treat every game like a cup final like Puyol does but he performs world class in practically in every big game.

If he could learn to treat every game like a cup final then the world is at his feet.

As for the comparison i would'nt like to say because they are totally different defenders but one thing is for sure they would make a fantastic partnership.

Yeah, Pique is easily distracted.

Being Shakira's BF, I'd also be highly distracted.

Chiellini.

Both are Top 5 in every knowledgeable fan's book.

Both are great, hard to separate them. TBH Chiellini gets the advantage of not playing in all the big games, so he isnt going to be scrutinized and watched like Pique is.

Pique, despite being young and something lacking total focus, hardly ever makes errors..rare for his age.

I dont know, its close either way and I wouldnt complain whoever likes who.

I think Chiellini doesnt like to be isolated though, 1 v 1 I think he is more beatable and would have to foul alot more then Pique does.

Chiellini is probably more commanding and more of a defence leader I think.

So, can go either way really.

I'd take Chiellini over Pique.

From a Madrid fan and an Italian fan, I would have to say Pique is much better.

I tend to feel Chiellini is over hyped abit especially after watching some of his performances for Juventus last season.

Pique probably has less weaknesses to his game, however Juventus fans have a right to prefer Chiellini putting loyalty aside in my eyes as in a wayward backline under pressure in which a fullback might simply go missing or leave acres of space open in the channel, Chiellini has a far greater chance of pulling a poor backline into shape acting as a bludgeon when at his best.

I still rate both in the top echelon of their position however and they could co-exist comfortably, both are good enough that it's no real shame to be rated below the other. If Pique performed as he did in the crucial matches of the season week in, week out he'd move ahead, though until then they're roughly equal in my eyes with adjustments to make to their game. Pique's ability on the ball is also far preferable, though Chiellini's not a poor distributor.

Anyway, this comparison is hard to make, because Pique rarely has to experience exceedingly difficult situations. With a side that keeps 60% possession and is rarely attacked on, his performances might look better than his actual skill. The fact that Ramos is a god in the National Side suggests this.

Chiellini is much better in my opinion.
