Ref get attacked by a team

We've all seen the running of the bulls, right? Well, in Argentina's 5th Division, they apparently use soccer teams and refs instead... (The video is w/o sound but we could swear we heard the Benny Hill chase sequence music once the second official got beaned in the head by the keeper.)

A very unpopular decision by the head official in a Atletico Tostado/Union San Guillermo match goes from chest bump to bench brawl very quickly, with even the coaching staff getting in on the abuse and a few players scratching away at the ref like roosters in cleats. The poor ref gets very little back-up and has to flee the pitch, Starsky-ing over a wall to safety. We're pretty sure nobody received the good sportsmanship trophy that afternoon… And that the phones aren't ringing off the hook from Primera A headquarters, either.

The guy should've gotten a yellow. You can't do that in the modern game.

The ref can climb though, and he took everything they throw at him, the guy was pissed cus the ref got him good with one punch. I think one of one the ref would have took the tall guy down easy.

It has happened in Macedonia's 2nd Division, actually it happened last season to my local side, a man from the stands and the keeper beat the hell out of the ref. We were banned from our home ground for the rest of the season and the keeper got a 2 year ban

Yeah...being a ref sucks. No matter how good you do, you usually end up dissapointing one team or the other unless both have really good sportsmanship or are young players.

You'll always be the scapegoat.

Ref could have handled it better though. The way he brought over that player and showed him a yellow was way over the top and very bad. You gotta do that in a calm way, talk to him, let him cool off, and then show a yellow.

Still sad, that's such terrible behavior. When he went over the wall though I admit I laughed.
