This Saturday- Its On
I decided to create a thread so me Mole, Real11 etc can have a little banter aswell as putting our footballing differences aside for one common goal during the build up to Saturdays game.
Here we will teach & school you glory supporting fan boy infidels the true meaning of football, passion & loyalty.

One of the best derby performances, if not the best derby performance, I've ever witnessed in PL

Think it all depends if we can get the LB and Striker in before the game and adjust quickly.....
I can see Ryan Taylor getting raped, i hope we are not forced to play him.

Where are you going to?
I don't think any country outside England would show that in a bar.
There is always the internet cafe though .

Re: This Saturday- Its On
some more information
Sunderland's population is around 150k and Newcastle's is around 180k. Birmingham's population is around 1 million and there are 4 major clubs there, which means theoretically each club should get bigger attendances then ours on average, but they don't.
The Geordie and Mackem rivalry goes back in history to the 1700's when the geordies supported Charles the 1st and the Mackems supported Oliver Cromwell, and both cities developed hatred of each other. This got carried forward in generations and is now taken out on the pitch.
Our rivalry has more history than any of the other rivalries in football today. We want to beat each other because it's in our blood and has been for around 300 years, the other clubs hate each other simply because they are close together.

Expecting Sunderland to edge it by one goal.
Too bad that despite it being the earliest kick-off, can only watch the first half..

Re: This Saturday- Its On
Fear and most sincere loathing from fans, fear and impulsiveness from players ambushed by the noise as well as opponents, fear and stress from managers fretful about overblown consequences: fear stalks Sunderland-Newcastle derby day even in mid-August.
The fixture has become a 90-minute panic attack. There has been a steady escalation in the heat of the language surrounding these matches; it has not produced a rise in flowing football.
The tension is visible.
You can see it in the eight-foot metal wall that will shield Newcastle United's bussed-in supporters from their rivals outside the Stadium of Light.
You can see it in the warnings to those travelling from Tyneside independently.
A helicopter overhead as the Geordie convoy makes its way along the 11-mile route will add to the sense of menace.
There are other cordons too.
The buses leave St James' Park at 10am because kick-off is at noon. This has been dictated by the police, not television.
There were 33 arrests inside the ground alone during January's Wear-Tyne derby and a pitch intruder shoved Newcastle keeper Steve Harper.
That could have been worse.
Sunderland need no repeat of it.
The atmosphere was electric then and it will be on Saturday. It could be a 48,000 sell-out audio-visual treat and an opportunity to see new players on both sides.
But the hostility of the occasion has overtaken the match before.
Bitterness between the cities has outstripped a competitive sporting rivalry. It makes for scrappy football.
The game is appropriated by flag-wavers.
'Absolute chaos,' is Shola Ameobi's verdict.
That is not so different from other derbies across Britain but the North East trades on warmth.
Passionate People, Passionate Places, as the adverts say.
