Stoke City = EPL ??

Every time i see people question the value of a new signing in EPL , they always compare him against Stoke City.
Other leagues they test against barca or RM , or Milan or Juve.
So in essence you are a good EPL player only if you play well against Stoke and not against Man Utd or Chelsea??.

you got it all wrong. They use them as the bar of "hardness" of the EPL physical aspects. The ultimate test in physical play etc

The commentator of star sports was wondering how Aguero would do against STOKE just before his second goal.

The commentators does make it sound like that....

I think Stoke are the epitome of physicality when it comes to the EPL and it's probably the best measure as to whether you can deal with the hardships of the league.

Best answer I could come up with other than ppl making fun of Stoke's awful football...

You compare players against RM and Barca in la liga because they are the only teams of note.

The comparison vs stoke is obviously because of the EPL's physical nature. Stoke display this nature perfectly.

If you don't understand this then you don't understand the point of match-ups in football.

stoke city ive noticed is also used as an emblem for anti-football in many eyes.

if you cant get past their big brick wall playing how ever you want.. you dont win.

and people use that as a way to make a statement about the epl no matter what it is.
