Real Madrid Spendings vs Barcelona Spendings since 2008
I think Barcelona soon have used more than real madrid considering their 30M move for sanchez and 40M move for fabregas.
I know madrid used insanely much on c.ronaldo and kaka but so did barca with their zlatan transfer (and please dont take away the sum of eto in it as it was atleast a 60-70M transfer from barcelonas side) and chygrinskcy

Barca make the stupidest transfers known to man. Having 8-9 homegrown worldclass players in their XI and still feel the need to buy Sanchez on top of their others buys throughout the years. Oh well.

Does the reason for Sanchez's purchase really have to be explained again?JuvenelCuore wrote:Barca make the stupidest transfers known to man. Having 8-9 homegrown worldclass players in their XI and still feel the need to buy Sanchez on top of their others buys throughout the years. Oh well.

Yes, and Afellay's. And Fabregas'. None of them make sense.

dude real madrid got so much stick by barca fans for the 2009 transfer window, and I really think none of the club are better or worse at spending big. I´m a neutral here, just want to see the numbers spent on each side on transfers IN not out

Okay without Sanchez, we would have 4 forwards, Pedro Villa Messi and Afellay for 3 positions, doesn't take much intelligence to realize that players were needed there. In January, the forwards we had before we bought Afellay were MVP + Bojan and Jeffren, those two which were underperforming and Pep found Afellay and grabbed him for 3m which is a steal.JuvenelCuore wrote:Lionel Messi wrote:Does the reason for Sanchez's purchase really have to be explained again?JuvenelCuore wrote:Barca make the stupidest transfers known to man. As for Fabregas, I suppose he is Xavi's replacement since Thiago is still young and needs a bit more time to ease into the first team.

Sanchez as a 30M substitute ? Yeah, just like Mascherano.
Fabregas is Xavi's replacement ? Yeah, a 31 year old only has about five-six years left. Wait. That would make Fabregas the SAME age as Xavi when Xavi retires. That would also give more than enough time for Thiago to develop.
Honestly, you cannot defend the transfers. I am not even harping on Barca for their spending out of hate, just out of frustration. They have so much homegrown talent that no other team can equate, yet they still make ridiculous moves.

It's near impossible to produce a full bench + starting xi + backups of world class players.

If Xavi suffered a multiple month long injury tomorrow, I don't think that Thiago would be good enough to take his place right now, that's probably the only reason I think that Pep would want Cesc, the reason for buying Cesc yet is not clear, time will tell how Pep will utilize Thiago and Cesc. He has a plan, if he didn't Thiago wouldn't have signed a 5 year contract 2 months ago.

Re: Real Madrid Spendings vs Barcelona Spendings since 2008
Barca's transfers have created a manipulation of Barcelona fans.
Where, in any part of the world, do you think it is justified to have a bench of Sanchez, Fabregas, Afellay, Mascherano, etc. You realize you are hosting the ex- captain of Arsenal, current captain of Argentina, one of the best youth prodigies in the world, on top of numerous others ? Yeah, justify that.
And Mascherano played 45 games, how many of them were full length ? He started the CL finals because Puyol was injured. Do not manipulate it to make it seem like he was a key element, he was played out of position as well.

SPOILER
I´m not asking of how much the player was needed, I´m just wondering who spended most on signings going IN to the club. Simple as that.
Don´t need to defend barcelona as they clearly are a big spending club on same level as real madrid, but they achieved more success doing so lately aswell

Re: Real Madrid Spendings vs Barcelona Spendings since 2008
Thing is, Barca spends a ton on a player and surrounds him with home grown players. But the few players that arent home grown we spend a ton on. Madrid just buys its entire squad (Iker is the only home grown player left I think)
I know that's not what you were asking and sorry I can't help. But you do realize threads like this will usually turn in to a shit storm between the Barca/R.Madrid faith full (plus the haters will use this opportunity to throw jabs at both clubs....mainly Barca)

Who called him worldclass ? The best youth prodigy is in reference to Sanchez, not Afellay. I did not even mention him because he was cheap, very cheap, but still unneeded nonetheless.

I gave you perfectly justifiable reason as to why these transfers went through, for depth, and xavi and villa are getting older. Barcelona have a very thin squad, depth signings are necessary. They can't rely on Jeffren to take over if one of the starting forwards takes a bad injury.JuvenelCuore wrote:Lionel Messi wrote:You mentioned Afellay when you said that it's not justifiable to have him on the bench. Barcelona's squad is a little bit thin, I understand perfectly well them buying Sanchez and Fabregas. You need to have some depth and it's better to buy quality when you can.

Am I the only one who sees Fabregas and Sanchez being "depth" players a problem ?
Then again, it is their own stupidity that led to it. That is why I respect Pastore, he said he would rather take Juventus over RM or Barcelona because he knows he will be a starter and be valued, and he stuck to it and is at PSG and for that I applaud him.
Why anyone wants to go to Barcelona is beyond me.
@Messi: I am the wall ? You think a replacement for a 31 year old worldclass, top three in the world player needs to be bought this year when Thiago is already worldclass.

I love how everyone just ignores the OP's actual question.
To answer it, not that the site is official or anything, but here's some useful links;
Real Madrid: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/real-madrid-cf/transfers-alle/verein_418.html
Barcelona: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/fc-barcelona/transfers-alle/verein_131.html
So yes, Real Madrid is still spending more dough, especially if you want to take into account outgoing transfers as well.
