Re: Rival thread
But at least if Higuain does move to PL, it's a pretty likable team that he joins in Arsenal, and not Chavski or Yanited, or Meh City, or Spuds.
Never minded Arsenal being strong and playing well.

100% agreed with you on that! Never had any hatred for that team.
But im afraid the players City & Chelsea seem to be buying. . Nothing feels enough. A two horse for me this season 'The Oil Farm Derbies'

Re: Rival thread
If Spurs lose AVB we're done for let alone AVB and Bale.
Mind you if AVB leaves I don't see Bale staying. Hopefully if Spurs have to lose one, it's Bale. AVB won't leave because Bale leaves. He might even relish the chance to buy whatever player he likes (well, who is realistic for Tottenham) with the money Bale provides.
I don't think AVB will leave though. Bale idk about.

The Emirates is paid off. He does have a transfer budget this summer.

Actually, Arsenal or Tottenham should be the last team he joins because they're closest to us currently unlike the rest.McAgger wrote:But at least if Higuain does move to PL, it's a pretty likable team that he joins in Arsenal, and not Chavski or Yanited, or Meh City, or Spuds.

yeah agree with enigma, higuain is a proven goal scorer at the top level, good for arsenal but i hope that all others with new managers sink this season and we will have a chance to move upwards

Re: Rival thread
This feels slightly blasphemous, but I'm a little jealous of Spurs lineup... especially their midfield...
Dembele------
------Paulinho
Sandro
Seriously... Put Bale, a competent striker, and a goal-threat RW in front of that, and they have a serious midfield and attack.
Their defense doesn't look too bad, either?
ASE--Vertonghen-Dawson--Walker
Granted, ASE and Walker looked like headless chickens at times last season, but Vertonghen and Dawson more than made up for it in most matches. They may have been a one-man-team in attack most of the season, but the defense had to put them in a position that Bale could win it with one wonder-strike. I'm honestly not sure if Kaboul gets back in that line-up... Anyone fancy a cheeky 7 mil bid for the French international just to tick off Levy?

Re: Rival thread
Not much creativity on the ball in that midfield, honestly. Dembele is a good midfielder going forward but he isn't a creative force or a passing hub, and neither Sandro nor Paulinho will fill that role either. Too much graft and not enough craft there.

Re: Rival thread
I have to agree with RedO. But we'll see how the team lines up. If more creativity is needed Holtby can also slot in for either of Paulinho or Dembele (probably Paulinho). Sigurdsson is also capable but I dislike him in a CM role.
Regardless, with a midfield and defense of
------Dembele-----Paulinho------
------------Sandro-------------
-BAE---Verts----Kaboul----Walker-
------------Lloris---------------
I see Tottenham being incredibly hard to break down, if that is how Tottenham lines up.
Also, Kaboul is not for sale. With Gallas leaving, that leaves Tottenham with Verts, Kaboul, Dawson, and Caulker. AVB has stated he prefers to have 4 central defenders and Tottenham aren't about to inject a year of cash and rehab into Kaboul only to sell him before the season starts. Not to mention having to buy a CB if Tottenham sold him. Besides, he's still a fan favorite and was the best CB in 2011-2012. If he doesn't recover correctly and look the man he was, then maybe he will be sold, but that would be next summer.

I'm sortta happy that Everton signed Deulofeu on loan. Doing what Barcelona want, grooming their young player when they don't have space for him yet. I'd be a bit upset if we'd be happy to do that.

According to the above link, Borrell would have liked, if deulofeu had joined us instead of everton.

Spurs have signed Nacer Chadli pending a medical. I fear that's a very good signing for them for 7m

He's not going to displace either of their starting wingers so I don't see the signing have much of a real effect. He's their Assaidi.

Re: Rival thread
Could it be that AVB is done looking for a ST and will just move Bale to play as a false nine or ST and use Chadli and Lennon on the wings.

Re: Rival thread
Bale's style is too reliant on pace and beating men on the run to be an effective false 9 I think. Bale doesn't look to drop deep and create or pass in the manner necessary to fill that role. AVB would honestly be better off trying him as a Torres-esque forward if he wants to move him to the center of the attack, in my opinion.

Arsenal and United have made one signing, Both wont be starting any game.
If Spurs loses Bale, I see them getting 3-4 players, 2 being quality.
City, Chelsea, Spurs, United, Arsenal, Liverpool.

No way United are dropping so much. Even if SAF has left, they still have the same players with the same winning mentality. Third is the lowest I can see United finishing.

Btw so much hatred between Arsenal and Pool fans these days fueled by this stupid saga. I remember days when it was Arsenal+Liverpool vs the evils of the PL in United and Chelsea.

Its probably because of teams cant compete with the other two, Arsenal fans nowdays experience a lot of tension every season. While Liverpool fans only depression. It was coming tbh

I think both sets of fans have realized we can't really compete at the top with other 3 so we've turned against each other.

Re: Rival thread
I think there was a time when manyu, chelsi, liverpool and arsenal were the only ones out there. Others were near but always midtable teams. Now I guess we have become direct competitors for that fourth spot. But Arsenal think that we are midtable team now and we can feed them, hence this Suarez saga.
But this window was the best chance for them to surge upward and fight shoulder to shoulder with mancities, chealsis, yuniteds. If they fail to surge upward in this or the other window, I can see us or spurs making their life difficult.
