I just don't know, Rafa has been out of a job for so long, it seems like he would jump at any good opportunity he has. Chelsea have some great young players he could work with. Anywhere but England Rafa por favor.

I'm not entirely sure he's in a rush to get back into management at this point. He's had several opportunities to come back to the game already but seems set on waiting for "the right project." I simply cannot see him looking at Chelsea in all it's ignominy and deciding it's the proper place to take the leap back into the managerial scene.

Other than the Abromovich being a huge pain in his a$$ in the future, this looks like the perfect project for Rafa. He'd do wonders with Hazard, Oscar, and Mata. He'll have as money as he needs to buy whoever he wants. Heck he'll even make their defense click.

Players with too much power, an owner more shortsighted than just about any other in the sport, and fans that hate him... nevermind it's a rival club of LFC and ANOTHER club Mourinho has already been to.

Yea, sounds exactly like Rafa's ideal set-up.

your right, Rafa COULD do amazing things with Oscar, Hazard and Mata but Red is also right, he'd never get a fair chance to do it, plus theres too many f*ckwit fans who wouldnt accept Rafa at the club, plus i dont thnk theres anyone else who has a chance of getting the old Torres back

In a perfet world id love to have Rafa at Chelsea, but in reality he deserve better

As I've said, I could end up being wrong, but Rafa's never really been one to act out of desperation.

Can't believe that Rafa has actually spoken his interest to join chelsea. I hope Rafa realises the risk behind this job.

Tony Barrett ‏@TonyBarretTimes

Chelsea set to confirm Benitez's appointment imminently.

Barrett and many more reliable reporters have started singing the same song . . . . so it seems more or less a done deal. Don't know how to react scratch

Rafa has been without job for almost two years, when Chelsea come asking I don't know how he's supposed to turn them down and wait for a better opportunity to get back on top??

Interesting to see how he will do there.

Fracking unbelievable that such an experienced manager accepts a position of a interim management. Interesting to see how it goes between him and chelsea now.

F*cking hell why did he do this.

He's going to get no support from the fans, management and the media will be all over his back. F*CK.

If he gets the time and support he'd do wonders with them, I'm convinced of that. But this might do his career more harm than good. One bad run of form and he'll be sacked just look at RDM.

What support exactly?

Roman still wants Pep which means he's there for the short term - he's not going to have much to spend in January.

Fans - hate him. Was greeted with:

Fact is - he can win the league with them, but he's still going to get booed and still be hated by everyone. The club is a joke.

So disappointed to see the general fan reaction. Rafa fighting against a boardroom is one thing... Fighting against a fanbase... Woah... Shocked

I haven't seen a reaction like this since this guy:

So far only seen one Chelsea fan who is OK with Rafa, the rest hate him and think it is an idiotic move.

I don't think Rafa will last the season.

With the squad Chelsea have Rafa shouldn't need much at all to spend in January. But damn this is interesting to see how Chelsea will do under him ^^
