Re: Ranieri - Totti is lazy
More the attitude imo. But then again, that's why I love him.

Second guy in as many months to come out and say this. Though Ranieri was infinitely nicer than Baldini was about it.

Ranieri said later during the day that he never defined Totti as lazy and that Gazzetta Del Sud misreported his words.

Heres part of that interview, the reporter admits it was a misunderstanding and Ranieri had nothing but praise for Totti. Love the part that says, "I may have left out the word NO" lol

Re: Ranieri - Totti is lazy
Another classic case of Goal.com/Corriere dello sport trying to make headlines by changing someones words.
Totti is more then just a club legend, and calcio legend...Honestly, hes top five all time for me, and should be for any other soccer fan.
At the end of it all I hope he is regarded as the greatest European born player... Holding the Serie A goalscoring record would go a long way to making that possible...
Who can you rank in front of him right now? I may be blinded by my giallorossi colored glasses, but honestly, there is only 2 players that may have him beat.
The Best 5 Players in Soccer History...***FACT***
1. Maradona
2. Pele
3. Totti
4. Beckenbauer
5. Cruyff/Baggio

It was actually the original reporters fault, from Gazzetta Del Sud (no, I've never heard of that paper either).

Re: Ranieri - Totti is lazy
lol, Meazza played back in the 30's, so of course not.
As it stands Del Piero has more goals with Juventus in all more than Totti sadly. Totti has more goals in Serie A however.
Baggio, as a number 10 yes he was better, but Totti has more goals than him as he surpassed him in the Top 10 goal scorers' in Serie A.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, stats cannot seperate Del Piero and Totti cuz they're just too close to call. Totti is God, Del Piero could settle for being Noah or something.

I consider them both gods and everyone knows it. Their both equal, but as it stands with stats Del Piero is better in his ways, but then again Totti as well. Though as you claim stats are irreverent, then let it be that way. But then again, Totti has three years still in him, maybe even more. If he is used as the prima Punta again with the likes of Lamela, Bojan and maybe Nilmar ! Totti will be on fire and who know's surpass even Del Piero.

Re: Ranieri - Totti is lazy
"My sentence was reported incorrectly, and it can happen that a journalist makes a mistake. The journalist corrected it, so I think that the controversy is non-existing." These were the words of Claudio Ranieri during Italy-Spain, along with his co-commentator Bruno Gentili. Ranieri went on to give his opinion on Prandelli leaving the door open to an eventual Totti or Del Piero return to the national team. The ex-Roma and Juventus tactician said that if the two find themselves in a good physical condition, then he would see no problem in calling them up.
