Speaking of teenagers

I'm not sure if its an Australian thing but it could very well be overseas

Does anyone else absolutely hate it when teenagers (especially the females) just sit in the most stupid spots in public. Like on the sidewalk. On the pavement. When there are seats available.

A continuous source of annoyance.

I wanna do human movement and nutrition courses at Deakin but I need an 85 for that so I'm not too sure

Ultimately, I want to do personal training and then do fitness for children and encouraging healthy habits early in life. If that all goes well, I might consider becoming a teacher

It was quite a sight what I saw today

Taking the train past a station which had an all girls school across the road. Over 100 girls all sitting in their small 3-4 man wolf packs stretching along the entire platform.

Ridiculous

I hate it when somebody says, "I love that movie cuz it's so cool..."

You see, in every branch of art that I look into, I try to seek characters, stories, situations etc that have a part of me in their core.

Take my bro as an example.

The boy ranks "Saving Private Ryan" (1998) on top of his list of favorite movies, followed by "La Vita E Bella" (1998), "Leon: The Professional" (1994), "Double Indemnity" (1944) and "The Prestige" (2006).

"SPR" is a true gem of war-film about eight men who are assigned to save the last son of a family who've lost their other three. Amazing stuff.

But I ask him, "So what? Do you see yourself in Captain Miller who misses his wife and like almost everybody else, believes that the whole war is horseshit?

Or "Leon". The gripping, gritty story of both a 12-year-old girl whose parents and brother were killed in a drug-money exchange meeting and the contract killer who [at first] unwillingly but later out of affection [read love] helps Mathilda take her revenge.

Now, Mr. Brother, which one do you sympathize with? Yeah, I know - neither.

But now hear my narcissistic ass' POV.

My favorite movie of all time is "Cinema Paradiso" (1989). The story of how people of a post-war Italy village practically lived the whole day looking forward to a fascinating night in their town's only theater, focusing on the life of Salvatore, the little boy who was in love with Cinema (specially the kiss scenes) and his father-son relationship with Alfredo, the pragmatic man who ran the theater on his own.

I see myself in Toto, who in youth, faced a catch-22 between choosing to be with his dream girl, or leave everything and give it a shot in Cinema industry.

Or "American Beauty" (1999), where Lester Burnham hates everyone and everyone hates him, yet he is desperate to shake himself, stand up, start over and become a new winner, instead of a loser, which is what he is.

All in all, I firmly believe people need to love movies that applies to them the most, because what's the point of loving something distant?

We fall in love with Girls who understand us the most, don't we? Granted, their age, looks, body, voice and other Factors play a role too, but to hell with that, we need a soulmate who accepts us for who we are, despite all our deficiencies, bad habits and weaknesses.

That was about Cinema, I will talk about Music in the next post.

Cinema Paradiso is such a great movie. The directing is great, but Morricone's music lifts it to another level.

Sir Alex Ferguson is a wonderful coach, probably one of the top 5 in history of the Beautiful game.

I'm against ManCity's insane spending but can't hide the fact that I like their push-push-push-until-you shove-it-in style.

And Arsenal and Chelsea are great teams.

But one can easily see that English teams are experiencing a rough patch, a period which I'm not sure could be called transition, maybe some other word needs to be used here.

All that respect and everything aside, I'm loving the way this adamant, arrogant English Football found out tonight that their two biggest hopes for UCL trophy this season went to Europa League.

They used to belittle us for our age and everything, but tanks to phenomenal displays we trashed them in 2007 and proved our point.

They still didn't stop downgrading us, and now this happens to them.

Just think about it for 2-3 minutes and you'll laugh your ass off: MAN UTD in Europa League!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's good for them, now they will know that a brave, gritty team like F.C. Basel can oust them if the opportunity came up, and they will hopefully become more humble people as a result.

Congratulations to Italian Football's real 2011-12 heroes, Napoli, who against all odds, beat a Man City whose Aguero is paid as much as their first team XI altogether. This is perfect, this is nice.

And let's hope Milan get a favorable draw like Benfica or Zenit in order for both the beauty of the competition and our own reputation and financial state.

Miss ya SAF...! (Well, that's a lie, I won't!)

They've all been in the Champions League before. Clichy and Nasri have been in quarter-finals and semi-finals, Toure has won it, Aguero won the Europa League. Plus Mancini how many games has Mancini managed in the Champions League? A lot.

Napoli are a team with much less European experience, let alone Champions League experience, but still managed to qualify.

The group of death excuse I accept, but the lack of experience I do not.

I'm also off on holidays guys, I'll be leaving for Italy tomorrow and I'll be gone for about a month, though I should be able to pop in occasionally to say hello.

I'll be at Milan-Siena on Saturday, so I'll bring back some better pictures than I did last time hopefully. Very Happy

Also Roma-Chievo, so Roma have three points in the bag there, I'm their lucky charm LOL. Hopefully Paloschi puts on a show for me in a heroic loss though.

I hope all of you have a great summer or winter break and stay safe! Very Happy Hopefully by the time I'm back we've acquired a midfield. Ganso shall arrive once he has vanquished Barcelona so he can do it all over again by season's end :coffee:

Off-Topic Garden Café - Page 18 Empty Re: Off-Topic Garden Café

Post by Guest Fri Dec 16, 2011 6:56 am

Arq and I have been sharing messages back and fourth over the last couple of months and we’ve decided to bring these intellectual conversations into the off-topic garden café (as long as Iras approves). We discussed all things life and I always came out of those conversations feeling more confident about life. The more great minds, the better the conversation and insight; we all know that the Milan section is filled with some of the most bright, interesting and unique minds this forum has to offer.

I know I haven’t spent much time posting in the Milan section, but I’m always lurking and keeping up with my original forum family. There was a time when I wasn’t even aware there was life outside of the Milan section and I miss those days. I’m hoping to be welcomed back, but if that’s not the case, I’ll just have to work my way back into your good graces.

I’m not sure the best way to get this started, perhaps some of you can offer some advice, or even get the ball rolling for the rest of us. It would be great to see this thread before more active again.
