Mr Humble And Respectful: Fabregas deal seems to be in final stages
Xavi feels that Barcelona's attempts to sign Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas will be successful in the near future.
The Camp Nou star told RAC1 that he remains positive of seeing his international team-mate join the Spanish champions before August 31, after a summer of intense speculation regarding his future.
"We look forward to Cesc joining, and it seems that it is in the final stages now," the 31-year-old admitted. "We hope that the signing goes through as it is what we all want.
"It's a matter of agreement between Barca and Arsenal, but I am optimistic and I think Cesc will arrive at the club."
Arsenal are said to have already rejected a €35 miliion offer for their captain from the European champions.
Xavi was then quizzed about the upcoming Supercopa clash on August 14 with arch-rivals Real Madrid, and the World Cup winner spoke confidently of his side's chances.
"At home we have the upper hand and we are the benchmark in football, but I do not wish to talk too much about Real Madrid."
Barcelona made a return to winning ways on Saturday, after a comprehensive 2-0 win over Mexican outfit Club America, and will now prepare for their Super Cup encounter in the coming week.

in truth, Xavi knows nothing imo. There is a group of player that rules barcelona locker room, they are like an independent political party within the club lol, made up of the most experienced and hardest cules, and Xavi is "el puto jefe".
He is putting pressure on Rosell to make it happen fast, since time is running out. He has no real insight if you ask me. Those are the guys supporting Pep to bring cesc at the club, needless to say they are at odds with Sandro on that issue, he couldnt care less about fabregas.

doesn't that essentially mean it's been in the final stages for 2 years?

He has already stated his fear of our squad.

Pretty much.
Although we could do something. We could not make threads or react everytime Xavi opens his mouth. Who knew, eh?

Xavi really hasn't said anything wrong here. By "final stages", he probably just means that the saga is coming to a close for this season one way or another. "It's a matter of agreement between the two clubs" suggests that any deal is still at that stage. In other words, nothing has been agreed.
