I don't like the idea of Benz against Barca though... He is slow, it will be hard for him to be the lone attacker. But we will see if he can pull it through, not gonna lie but his finishing is the best in the team, if he get the chance he can score a goal.

Pepe played in midfield when he came on, and Varane played a full 90 minutes. I just get a feeling he will be starting in the supercup.

Possible line up

Casillas
Ramos-Varane-Carvalho-Marcelo
Khedira-Pepe-Alonso
Di Maria-Ronaldo-Coentrao.

He'll surely be Madrid's top striker in most games, but I've a feeling he may not start the SuperCopa, he and Ronaldo hardly press the ball and in such a match it would be quite disadvantageous to have them both on the field.

Unless, they both step up their pressing game, I can only see one of them starting and at the moment Ronaldo is favourite.

Hard to say who plays. But i think you need to go for the win at the Bernabeu. I don't like a CF-less team and pepe in the midfield. This is the preseason and the least important of our matchups. We know that formation works if we don't have a choice... we might as well try something more aggressive here.

i think pepe will pair up with varane in the defence and coentrao will play in the midfield, which is why he has been playing alongside alonso everytime and not on the wing

Coentrao hasn't played that great today though, a lot of misplaced passes. If indeed he starts I hope he doesn't just give back the ball to barca

I actually think Varane get paired with Carvalho and Pepe plays the mid. But if this is the case, you need to have great passer in all the other position... which means Di Maria sits and CR7, Ozil and Benzema play. You can't have messy passing by others if pepe is in the mid.

I agree with you, its either varane or trollbiolol and I sure would like to see varane there instead, much much calmer [which is what you need against barca]

That's unless ramos's injury isn't serious, which I doubt its not.

he has been great in the pre-season, but he's still only 19. do you think he has the mentality to cope with the pressure of playing against barcelona ?

obviously i'd pick him over albiol any day but still he's very young.

No he's not. But he's not a speedster. Nowadays, he's better when he gets the ball closer to the box or in the box. When he needs to start too far away, defenders catch up to him.

Why not ? what i've seen from him during the pre-season was that he is our calmest defender and do not get stressed easily. he's intelligent and reads the game perfectly.

Just one lack i've seen from him and that was his clean attitude toward opponent's forwards. he need to learn those dirty things from Carvalho and Pepe.
