Can this go here? If you're not aware of my near-gay love for Olafur Arnalds from the other threads, it's worth spreading it here. It's not classical in the classical sense (pun not intended), wikipedia describes it as neo-classical. Anyway, this is a simple piano/strings (not sure what string instruments, I'm not a musician) composition which is absolutely beautiful.

Re: Classical Music Appreciation Thread
Don't even like Dvorak and I'm horrified. Good choice of models though, ahem.
An excellent idea to reboot the thread though, I'll offer my own contribution in the form of Ravel's Daphnis and Chloe. The entire suit runs just short of an hour, so for brevity's sake I shan't post that.

Re: Classical Music Appreciation Thread
Bumping this thread due to classical becoming my new musical obsession these days.
The Detroit Symphony Orchestra are doing Mahler's 9th Symphony in a few weeks so I will probably go to that as well. Will be my first classical concert.
My top 5 pieces on repeat right now:

Loved it. The performance was awesome and players were quite cool. Got to ask them questions and such afterwards. I've been to several concerts since this one though haven't been to one in a while now. Been trying to make it to a couple a month.

My 2 latest obsessions
Brahms' Double Concerto in A Minor, with Anne-Sophie Mutter on violin.
Dvorak's Silent Woods, played by Yo-Yo Ma.

Re: Classical Music Appreciation Thread
That's enchanting. Wow.
It took me 7 years to finally listen to Beethoven's 7th and I understand fully why Shinigami posted that 2nd movement.....goodness me what a piece that is. It is dark and apocalyptic and I feel like it will be playing when the goddamn world ends. I can't stop listening to it.

Sure ever since the movie Intouchables in 2011 where I heard his "Una Mattina" for the first time I have been a fan of Ludovico and especially his piece Nuvole Bianche which is my favorite.
