Re: Classic Rock music thread
I don't think U2 or Oasis should be considered classic rock. The term itself, "classic rock" is used to describe the bands who predated the New Wave/ post-punk movement which occurred in late 70s and early 80s.

I tend to refer to those two bands as Brit Pop/rock. It seems you can slap the "rock" tag on pretty much any band that plays the guitar nowadays, though. Hell, I'm pretty sure I saw One Direction categorized as rock somewhere, not too long ago.

I remember my dad listening to these songs:

And this is my dad's favorite band, according to himself. My grandmother's English, so my dad probably grew up with some musical influence from England/Britain.

Re: Classic Rock music thread
Looking at every song in this thread, i know most of them
our parents listen the same things
High Hopes one of the greatest songs ever made tbh
Yeah lol everything with guitar and drums can be described simply as rock or metal. There are so many subgenres and most of the good bands are a combination of subgenres so it can be hard to classify.
Classic rock refers more to rock n roll or even blues rock. Led Zeppelin prime example. Basically the period before the likes of AC/DC and the hard rock with metal tendency of late seventies.
