Re: Sunderland AFC
What the chances of Bramble playing (and scoring against us like always) I saw something about him wanting to play against us

Re: Sunderland AFC
Gd chance he will play now that Anton has been sold, its a toss up between Bramble and Turner to play that position.

Re: Sunderland AFC
Seems like wages are the problem with Gyan and also seems Sunderland are willing to offload him too.

Galatasaray hope to conclude the signing of Asamoah Gyan, the Sunderland centre forward, before Turkey's extended transfer window closes tomorrow. The Turkish club have offered Sunderland £5.25 million (Dh31.4m) plus £1.75m of variable payments for the 25-year-old Ghana international.
Gyan is Sunderland's record signing following a £13.1m switch from Rennes last summer, but has become an increasingly difficult figure around the club since discovering that several teammates are paid more than his £25,000 weekly wage.
Though Sunderland are asking for bank guarantees from the Turkish club before completing the deal, they attempted to loan Gyan to both Mallorca and Marseille last week.
"Sunderland proposed that we could have Asamoah Gyan, but we decided not to follow through with it," said Marseille sporting director Jose Anigo. "This was simply because Jean-Pierre Gignac did not want to go to Sunderland [in exchange]."
Gyan suffered a thigh injury on a scoring return to international duty in a 2-0 African Cup of Nations qualifier win over Swaziland on Friday night, the damage is not thought to be significant. Other Turkish clubs with an interest in Gyan include Champions League qualifiers Trabzonspor.
Meanwhile, Arsenal's hesitancy in the summer transfer window cost the club the signatures of not one, but two Spain internationals. It has been widely reported that a failure to exercise Juan Mata's buyout clause by the middle of August ultimately saw them lose the forward to Chelsea.
Arsene Wenger also lost Santi Cazorla to Malaga after hesitating on a formal offer.
Like Mata, Cazorla, 26, had agreed personal terms with Arsenal. The Premier League club, however, did not want to conclude what would have been a £16.6m transfer from Villarreal before the sales of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri had been completed, allowing Malaga to beat them to the deal.
Instead, Wenger ended up scrambling to recruit Mikel Arteta from Everton for £10m and Yossi Benayoun on loan from Chelsea on deadline day.

Re: Sunderland AFC
Quite like Turner but not sure if he'll still be the same after his injury problems.
Have heard on some websites that Gyan handed in a transfer request because he wasn't getting a pay rise.

Re: Sunderland AFC
I like Gyan, but he really is no Darren Bent.
He only scores when he is in a really good mood, or really wants to play like Ghana vs England.
He needs to start getting his shooting boots on.

Re: Sunderland AFC
Neither do I.
Was very optimistic after the 1-1 draw at Liverpool but now I'm looking at the bottom half of the table rather than the top.

Re: Sunderland AFC
Things aren't exactly looking up for you at the moment. I still think you will have a decent season, although a challenge for the top 6 does look unlikely.
I'm shocked that you have let Gyan go. Bendtner and Wickham could do well, but both are massive risks.

Re: Sunderland AFC
Basically, we have paid £13 million for someone who has scored 11 goals in 37 games and can't play well without a striker (Darren Bent) to play with

Re: Sunderland AFC
What a horrible move by Gyan. Even worse than Eto'o going to Anzhi.
I think I read he's got 3 years left on his contract, so hopefully Sunderland can recoup some of that £13m by selling him. Who knows, maybe that UAE team has paid a loan fee to Sunderland.
So umm.. GyansDancingBoots, you gonna change your username now..?
BendtnersHumbleAttitude maybe?

Re: Sunderland AFC
Gyan moving anytime to the middle east is bad enough but to do it when the transfer window is shut is unbelievable because we are not allowed to go out and buy a replacement striker.

That would be an awesome name, but he's only loan, so there will then be another name change.

Re: Sunderland AFC
I would be surprised if you could.
Can someone explain the situation with Gyan. I'm no Sunderland fan, so I havn't been following closely. I was stunned to learn of his supposed transfer request on deadline day, and the move to the UAE absolutely floored me. I could see him leaving, but not to the UAE on loan...
I do not understand.

Re: Sunderland AFC
Basically he has a number of agents & managers.
Lots of people interfering, they have been trying to engineer a move for months. Putting out all kinds of reports which have unsettled him.
The club have always denied that they wanted him to leave. Bruce spoke to him 48 hours before he left, he told Bruce he was happy and wanted to stay.
Then a few hours later one of his agents sorted a deal out to where ever he has gone, paying 5 times the wages he is currently on. So he told the club he wanted to go and we told him to get him self away.

More annoyed about the fact that he left when the transfer window was shut. Squad settling together then Gyan leaves and we cannot sign a replacement striker. Need to get our cheque book out in January or we could be in big trouble
