Re: England is not n never been a football powerhouse
*cough* brazil?im sorry, but we have won 5 trophies in the last decade(1 WC).+ Italy in 06?
We have all the credit to lose once in a while.
Argentina is a fail national team,so you can ride on them whenever you like

Arsenalfaithfull wrote:They were a force to be reconed with between96-2004 in my opinion. England being overrated is such a lazy statement at this point. When in reality, other "power houses" have failed to deliver time in and again aswell. *cough* Brazil, Argentina, Italy
This is another case of Europe aimlessly hatin on England.
Note that i did not say they are going to win the wc or the Euros anytime soon, but then Neither are Brazil or Argentina. (and they sure as hell would not win the euro if they were to participate in it somehow)
Were they? I remember England in the Euro 2000 getting completely raped 3-0 by Portugal's reserves.

England hate is overrated. They have class players, class players usually play good games.
Will be one of the only times I admit to it though

^ and from an algerian fan as well. Honestly, they were just stiffled vs us in the WC because we are an exact check to englands game plan. We have more skill, are just as strong, lobbing the ball doesn't work because all our players can head the ball like bosses, and that day it was our day.

^Honestly England's struggle in world cup group stage (inculding Algeria) has a lot to do with incompetence of Capello IMO.
Not taking any credit from Algeria but if Capello played players in their regular position they would have had a better world cup IMO.

Bringing Heskey on when they were trailing 4-1
but tbh...Remember how everyone was saying Joe Cole is the MESSIAH of England and if England play him as LW, all the problems will be solved ?
Joke Hole

And Also having Mattew Upson anywhere near england squad let alone playing against Germany.
Its just weird how many stupid decision Capello made during world cup.Unlike during Eriksson coaching the blame for England's world cup last time lies more on Capello than players this time around IMO.

One of very few traditional wingers left in the league (like likes of Albrighton, Downing, Valencia, Ethrington, n them) ....I think he has a great cross, actually had the most successful crosses in the league last season after Nani and Downing. and quite young.
I like the fact that he is direct .....I reckon he'll get more recognition once he either scores against a top team or adds some trickery to his play. Reckon he needs a step up to a mid-table team first...someone like Everton

Cue obligatory "we've seen this 100 times, you're overhyped, suck, and will bomb out in penalties" comment.

LOL England can have talented players all they want but it has never worked out for them before, and it isn't going to happen anytime soon

yup, their "golden generation" is gone and their current talents still have a long way to go. but the lower expectations might do them some good.
