Viviano suffers serious injury

Italy and Inter goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano could miss the entire season after suffering the “complete lesion of the anterior cruciate ligament.”
The shot-stopper had only just completed his transfer to the Nerazzurri after a blind auction resolved the co-ownership deal with Bologna.

It was announced this evening that Viviano has suffered a devastating injury during pre-season training.

“Viviano underwent tests with Professor Franco Combi, medical director at F.C. Internazionale.

“The tests showed the complete lesion of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

“Over the next few days the necessary surgery will be planned out.”

This is a serious injury and could keep Viviano out of action for around five months.

There really isn't a player in the world I wish injury upon. . . I'd rather we beat a full squad than rely on whose out. It's sort of winning by default, why the hell would anyone want that?

De Jong may be the exception to the rule. I think he deserves to be injured after that HBA incident, but I feel like sitting around wishing injury on him is a bit futile.

I'd never wish anyone a serious injury. Just lots of minor problems which mean they could never play, so that they're not in pain, they're simply being paid to sit on a bench, which isn't too bad.

Bonera is a case in point.

I hope Viviano recovers quickly, however in the meantime it means that Inter have solved the puzzle of what to do with Cesar, he must be retained. If he's having a poor season, then in six/seven months when Viviano has regained his fitness then he can be given a chance in an Inter shirt, otherwise he can leave in the January transfer window on loan to play out the rest of the season if Cesar is back to his best.

You have no idea how long I'd wanted Albertazzi to get a game in his place. Then finally, when everyone was injured, when the game meant nothing and Albertazzi was in the squad...Leonardo played Oddo as a centre-half.
