Wtf did Heinze do to get this kind of hate. As a backup he is more than perfect for Roma. He had two good seasons with Marseille - one of them being very good - and should be able to do quite well when he is called on to play. Some of the replies this and other Heinze threads have received are quite shocking.

I haven't followed him since his Madrid days.. I hope he improved because he was GARBAGE for us

Yeah, I've never really thought of Heinze as a poor defender. He didn't have the best of times with Madrid, but he was quite good with United and Marseille...he's certainly an upgrade from Paolo Castellini, who was Riise's backup last season. I'm pleased with this signing.

We're not relying on him for anything. He's there as a squad player and for depth. He's also there to help mentor our younger defenders like Angel, Crescenzi and Antei.

He will almost certainly not be a starter.

Nope, we signed Morel from Lorient, he had a pretty solid last year and should build on it this year hopefully!
