Messi was rubbing his hamstring aggressively in the 20th minute. Hope it’s nothing serious

maybe a tweak... i think he could get away with it though if it's just mild because he doesn't need to sprint to be effective

Argentina will chase shadows all game. Even if the game is leveled after 120 minutes, Croatia will win the PK shotout as they have better GK and better Penalty takers. This Argentina team is nothing special.

Good game from Argentina. Never expected this kind of performance from them.

Re: World Cup 2022 - Semi Finals
Huge Alvarez (how can City have both him and Haaland??) and Messi matches. But let's give it up for Tagliafico who was far better than he has any right to be at both sides of the pitch.

Argentina looks again like the team that won the Copa. Building since the Poland game. De Paul is himself again. The rest all great, Messi and Julian obviously the best. Was great to see Dybala get some time and play well, wish he was used more but even being part of the team is a bonus since the injury at Roma.

Re: World Cup 2022 - Semi Finals
Liked how Argentina ceded the ball. A few of us on GL said they look at their best playing a scrappy, counter game. However, when they're down and trying to break through a block it's a different story.
France and Morocco will both want to sit back in the finals. I wonder how Scaloni will respond.

Paredes was embarrassing against Netherlands, but stepped it up big time today.
Scaloni has been making changes every game. I guess if they face France he might go 5-3-2. If he doesn't then it's a question of Di Maria or Paredes.
Di Maria always turns it up in finals, so I'm leaning toward him so far.

I can’t see Di Maria starting considering he didn’t get any minutes today. He will probably be a 60th min sub in the final.

I don't think he will go 352 against France. It's a bad setup to defend Mbappe and Dembele. It risks one on ones on the wing.
Scaloni generally plays 433 or 442 and it would make sense to double team with De Paul and Molina vs Mbappe.
Di Maria starts from the bench imo since it has been working well for them.

re: Parades
did he really though? nothing but a thug player imo. Was he the one who made the pass to Alvarez in build up to the penalty though? kudos to him if it was him
i was also debating this question of how Arg will lineup if they get France in the final...
this is actually where Parades can be useful though... play the exact same team of today and let Parades rough up Griezmann who has been France's key player so far
or do you go back to 5 at the back so that you can double up on Mbappe...
i guess it's a question of you perceive to be the bigger threat
or simply do both i guess (meaning Parades stays in the team even if they go back to 5 at the back)...
Di Maria supersub option if you need extra creativity off the bench

Re: World Cup 2022 - Semi Finals
Parades, no pls, accident waiting to happen or a time bombing that will explode no pls. I Thought McAllister was amazing in this game also. MAn basically every one of the Arg players played a top game, intense but also level headed, organised, everything u would want in a top performance
Messi cemented his legacy in this match, thats for sure, the third goal it felt like everyone was a bit shock of how good it was, he placed it on a plate again for Alvarez who was great again, tears in my eye almost watching that, felt like a lifetime n career topping moment. Dybala n Correa came out, not bad subs at all n shows Arg arent that bad in depth as thought I guess.
In the end Croatia showed they were always lacking up front especially no matter how good they are in midfield... Messi upping Modric again
Strange but as others have said, even if Arg dont win it vs France it wont be a dsiappointment now the way they n Messi has performed. WOuld be perfect if they win it but if not wont be a disaster.

Re: World Cup 2022 - Semi Finals
Paredes was very good last night. His job was to do what he did and the added value is that he allows Enzo to push forward more.
Also, where is Mac Allister going to go? Because he is out there playing like he needs to be in a better club than Brighton.

Apparently Upamecano and Rabiot have a flu, which might still spread to the rest of the team. Stars aligning for Morocco?

Re: World Cup 2022 - Semi Finals
@rincon good point on Mac Allister, definitely one of the players who gained market value this wc for us. He's been pretty unsung so far but (like Enzo and Álvarez) earned his spot during the tournament.
Another one flying under the radar is Otamendi, who has been an absolute rock, giving his 2 younger CBs much needed experience and tranquility. But we are due for a classic fuckup from him and that kinda scares me going into the final.
