Julian Alvarez Appreciation Thread

This kid deserves his own hype thread. He was lighting it up in Argentina in the last two years but he’s brought that form to the biggest stage too. He’s deputized well when Haaland’s been injured and is capable of playing with him. He’s done more for Argentina in two games than Aguero has in 15 years.

Great finishing, can strike the ball with either foot, versatile, great passing and link up for a striker, and he runs his socks off and presses like Tevez on steroids. What a signing.

and then in the treble for City he wasn't as key as Haaland, Rodri, KdB, Silva, Gundagon or Stones

Saka just in the PL alone:
14 goals, 11 assists

Alvarez wasnt necessarily key in City's treble but he did contribute and the trophies are also his. And he was very in sync with Messi in the WC and quite instrumental in my opinion

So Saka's stats are comparable (25 g/a vs 22 g/a) but Saka has 0 trophies and those do matter as far as Balon Dor is concerned.

Going to Atleti rather than fighting for a spot at City was such a Beta move. I said it then and stand by it. They could also really use a goal scorer around now, must regret letting him go (although they got a great price for him).

I did not seem like he was ever going to bench Haaland.

Why would he remain in the shadows. He bet on himself, now he's on top of La Liga and City is in shambles.

Because obviously City would compete for higher things than Atleti.

And he's not only in competition with Haaland, he can play as a 2nd striker and is not simply a poacher. That's why he played 90% of the matches last season in the league, even when Haaland was fit.

I can understand wanting to play the most important CL matches, but I wish he had responded by raising to the challenge.

I thought he did rise to the challenge and did very well, yet still remained benched too often. In benched I don't just mean didn't start because he did start a lot but was almost always the first one out.

Man did not get his flowers and left.
