Antony for 80M is madness but ppl on redcaf make a good point - nobody batted an eye at Tchoumeni for 80M+ from Madrid earlier in the window.

Another young promising player from an atrocious league. We just need to forgot about the old prices we're used to seeing. Smaller clubs will FLEECE the rich ones.

Tchouameni was the best defensive player in the league that produces the best defensive talent in the world. Antony is an attacking player signed from a league with no defense and whose offensive exports tend to flop more often than not hmm

it's not the same level of risk.

The media might not have batted an eye Firenze but Madrid fans totally did w.r.t Tchoumeni and his price tag.

That being said, I think Antony would have costed that much regardless of the league (top 7 leagues in Europe) as apparently, any explosive attacking player who can dribble a bit (or a lot) is going to cost upwards of 50 million nowadays.

The difference is we had two other teams who were fighting over his signatures. Monaco had no reason to lower the asking price for us. Utd are the only ones in for Antony and they are taking you to the cleaners

He did look very promising at the start, to be fair. I don't know where it went wrong for him. His offensive shortcomings is one thing, but his entire game just declined rapidly at some point.

- Cristiano to Napoli, MUFC pay 85 pct of his wages
No idea if they're accurate (suspect no), but if so, great business for Napoli, though weaker on pitch. MU, the reverse: bad business, stronger on pitch

can Serie A lads, if you're seeing this, explain the Osimhen deal when Napoli bought him btw? I vaguely remember it being reported as a 70 million deal but iirc it was very, very shady and some talk of them inflating fees and stuff? its uncharacteristic for Napoli to ever spend that much too..

I like Osimhen but I wouldn't pay more than 50M for him

Osimhen was bought by inflating his price and selling some Napoli players back for similarly inflated prices to balance the books. Shady accounting, the stuff many Italian clubs do in the face of FFP.

He is good though, definitely worth more than 50m in the PL where every other scrub goes for 50+.

Osimhen is legit, but the 70 Million deal was shady like Pjanic's Barca deal. It was inflated for some hidden reasons and probably had a few players being loaded with it to secure some Tax break or something like it.

Given the prices being thrown around these days, Osimhen could fetch a price tag close to 100 Million, but he won't be worth that.

ah right right, I remember some of you here mentioning a few Napoli youngsters going in the other direction for very exaggerated valuations

and yeah fair point, we just spent 100M on Antony so why wouldn't Napoli want that much for Osimhen. He does look good and there aren't many great forwards around atm.

I'd take him on loan with an obligation next summer for ridiculous money and they get Ronaldo

Chelsea are paying 60M for Gordon. 80M for Fofana. It's dumb but its the world the PL teams operate in when the other club doesnt want to sell especially.

Also Antony is one of the most exciting players in world football. Will be worth 200M in 2 years.
