In the good old days I would've said we'll thrash Portugal with like 4-1 like always, but these days, Löw will make sure we don't make it out of that group. Won't even beat Hungary.

Getting 3rd still makes you advance as long as you have better GD than the other 3rd placed teams. Portufal finished 3rd in their group and won the damn tournament last time

Btw they are dumb as f if they still have the tournament held throughout multiple countries. Vaccine or not, they should limit it to country.

Satisfied by the draw. Groups D, E and F will be quite competitive. Groups A and B have less quality overall but still we get good matches. Can't be mad about group C, it's bad, but it allows 5 decent groups.

Should be fun to watch, even if currently i feel zero hype

I was supporting them yesterday but then I feel asleep at the beginning of 2nd half and I've lost everything... Great regret given that it finished on penalty kicks !

What saddens me the most is there is little to chance going back to the 16 team format, which it seems most football fans would rather do.

What annoys me is NOT the amount of teams, 24 is a lot but we saw Iceland and Wales do their things, etc and personally i can tolerate mediocre group stage matches.

The most frustrating is lowering the standards of knock out rounds. Instead of best third bs it should be top of each group + 2 best seconds who advance from group stage.

While I think I prefer the old format, last euros were fine.

Almost all matches are good and its still a tense and quality format. Plus the smaller teams were a run like last time's Iceland, Wales, and Portugal

The knockouts are just as good imo, its the group stages that gets worse because of the reduced tension since you can make it from 3rd place.

IMO what hurt euro 2016 the most was not this, but all the upsets in the group stages that led to a completely asymmetrical knockout bracket with all the good teams on one side.

IMHO the Euro 2016 was absolutely fine, it was just annoying that Portugal won, because they fluked, dived, and tackled through every single match, while France, Germany, and Italy had everyone and their mum injured and played ridiculous setups in the end. Other than that it was a fine tournament, it would've hardly been better without Wales or Iceland.

Best Euro that I've seen has been Euro 2000 , close to World Cup 98 (the best ever). And no ,it hasn't to do with the idealization of first memories ...
Unpopular opinion , but I usually find more entertaining Euro than WC, it might sound as  a paradox but I feel this, I think show is biggest in this tournament, perphaps also because of minor pressure that conversely it is maximum on World Cup.
It's difficult to remember a bad Euro  from  this point of view but I agree Euro 2016 was the less one .
Big NTs weren't having a good period, for example  Italy had terrible midfield and attack for example ( now it's much better )  ... and the winner was the Portugal that has won only one match
I've seen more boring tournaments than this, but Euro can give better emoctions.

Euro 2016 was great until the semis imo. Then, as is the case with all tournaments NT or not, teams just sit back and counter for the most part... and it works tbh. When you have two great teams go at it, they try to contain the attacking player first tactically before worrying about attacking themselves.

Anyhow, this is the France team you will likely see going forward. Giroud is done and Martial will take over. Mbappe will play over Coman to start. If Martial falters, Mbappe will go central and Coman will play.

Rabiot-Pogba-Kante midfield.

Hernandez-Kimpembe-Varane-Pavard defense.

On defense, there's a lot of talent at CB and LB. So those 3 positions are open for competition. Pavard is the only one who really doesn't have an elite backup.

Good game by France.

Martial really needs to finish better though. He has to score on some of those.

I am desperate to buy a ticket for a game in St. Petersburg Russia. nothing on UEFA Portal yet, but I know Russian allows fans and is aiming for 50% capacity for the games.

Does any one have more info on where we can buy official tickets for this tournament? it's literally 70 days away!

@Robes.  Euro is more competitive overall (better quality teams).  BUT, nothing comes close to the emotion and pressure of a world cup.  Nothing.  It's almost shocking that players can perform at all under those crazy circumstances.  It takes a mental giant to be an elite player and perform under the scutiny of a world cup...  because all the teams are imperfect and you don't practice a ton. So it really comes down to the individual players much more than club football imo.

Group D venues: London and Glasgow, distance 500+km
Group E venues: St. Petersburg and Seville, distance 3500+km
Group F venues: Budapest and Munich, distance 500+km

UEFA has some seriously sick people planning this tournament.

Been getting used to so much football packed this season every game every 3 days or so. So glad we have the Euros now.

Havent watched NT much at all since the WC tbh... just realized England and France are the favourites. Wow, England. They look like having the players, but their mental block and so many years of under performance in the big tournaments means they will really have to overcome it together with the fact of pressure of being the favourites this time. Do u think they can do it? Mbappe leading a France team who also has Benzema now, if the win it its some kind of record Im sure after winning the WC and EU b4?

England have a nice crop of talent for sure, but as ever they have a dumb beta coach that will get nothing out of them. You gotta fancy France tbh, most of their squad are currently in their prime and/or playing great football and they are fresh of a world cup victory.

Historically apart from Spain it was so hard for a NT to dominate and win consecutively for so long, so France doing it would be very impressive, and as u said they are favourite. Players wise can only see England coming close but they are so far less proven and as a group in comparison, and tend to flop under pressure, unlike France.

Think Germany will win the Euros
