What's a worse Big Team deal than Barca signing Griezmann?

€120m or whatever it was, Barcelona didn't need Griezmann while they had Messi and Suarez. Barca are woefully thin in midfield and defense. Humiliated by Bayern tonight. They absolutely needed to spend the Griezmann money wiser than adding to the attack.

Is there a worse top club deal - considering the squad and circumstances and price - than Barca signing Griezmann?

I said it when they signed him and I'll say it again. It was a move destined to flop because the dynamics made no sense. Messi needs a runner on the left not a ball-player. Coutinho is quicker and is actually right footed and he also struggled on the left. Instead they decided to get a slower, left footed player who can't dribble and who is most comfortable playing in Messi's position.

These slow SS like Griezmann, Dybala, Felix and even Muller need to play behind or beside the striker. Anywhere else and they become way less effective.

Ultimately the blame comes down to the board and the technical department who couldn't realize that.

I'm going to maintain that Coutinho is actually a good player who can play in positions that Barca need a bit of skill in. Griezmann, doesn't make any sense on paper, on pitch, on anything.

It all started with Fabregas. Barça has a hard-on for signing players that are not needed or require a complete system overhaul in order to accommodate.

Atleti spent over half the Griezmann money in a player that played 27 matches and scored 0 goals. So there is that.

Lemar actually joined a season before Griezmann got sold, that money was used on Felix who is pretty good and will get even better.

But yeah, Lemar is a good answer to this thread.

Pepe to Arsenal didn't seem like a good piece of business to me.

Vampiressi is actually what prevents FC Barcelona's standards from collapsing because of their numerous poor transfers, without him they'd be in deep shit Griezmann or not

De Jong looks great. Felix is only 20, and like BC said, is still overcoming the culture shock from being benched by Marcos Llorente. Bale has scored some important goals for you guys.

quite a spectacular way to self-destruct really, thats 3x times of a mistake that could have help fix barcelona's defense and midfeld w/ 1/3 of that total cost. We live in crazy times ...

The whole Barca board, I'd say. They went top heavy (380 millions) while neglecting midfield and defence. One can neglect one of them but not both. You know what's funny? If Bayern wins the CL with Coutinho on board Barca will have to pay Liverpool 5m euro.

Perhaps if he was signed at €25-30m, sure but at €60m it’s bad investment.

Barcelona have to pay Liverpool €5m (£4.5m) if Philippe Coutinho wins the Champions League with Bayern Munich this season.
