I know Pique has a negative rep in Spain and all but the yellow card vs foul argument is shit unless someone has actually gone through the pains of putting together each of their fouls and comparing the respective plays (and the contexts).

My initial impression after reading that stat is that Pique has more yellow cards because he has to commit more tactical fouls. Barca plays higher up the pitch than Madrid and has a very unathletic team which probably leads to him fouling from more dangerous situations. Is there a heat map for their respective foul locations? That would help put the comparison in a better perspective. Although you'd still need to see the context of the game. Home vs away, scoreline, and the referee are all contributing factors too.

Playing victim when your team can spend upwards of 100 million on a player is pretty shitty when you think about it.

this; a thousand percent, referee decisions are not always going to go your way, but i bet on average the bigger teams tend to get more favorable calls than their smaller counterparts (which also has something to do with the skill bigger teams posses). but if you spend 100s of millions of euros on players, facilities , medics etc...u should be good enough to offset any refereeing decisions (which on average are favorable to you anyways)

i dont think i've ever said anything about refereeing decisions (not because of refdrid as i'm sure someone will make a smart ass comment about), but because i've felt, we have the resources to not have to complain about a ref not giving us a call against a team like celta vigo who we shouldn't be struggling with in the first place

Alot Pique's yellows are for dissent too. And if LL were really biased against Barca Vidal would not be having 4 yellow cards today Laughing

We have been wronged alot more than Barca but we've stopped complaining. Tebas and RFEF already dislike Perez because he calls them and VAR out for their incompetence

At the start of the season we were told that there was a new rule on hitting a players achilles, Modric of all players got a red card against Celta away. We won. This past game against Espanyol Carvajal had his achilles stamped on by an Espanyol player and the play continued. Then you have the whole scenario of VAR room telling eachother not to give penalties to Vinicius or LL refusing to release VAR recordings for the first time when we asked for them

Barca are never wronged as much as us, don't make me laugh. They actively target our players. Ramos could be standing like a statute and they'll be falling a foul and a yellow when somebody runs into him

We unlike Barca are so used to it, we have learnt to play with a man less

Btw Ronaldo was never as protected as Messi is right now and has been over the years

Always rated him, it seemed like he was always out there to do his part and just a solid player to have in your team. It's ridiculous that we pay a high price towards the end of his career but either way I wanted to pay him some tribute in that way for a warm welcome Very Happy

I'm happy with the swap. I think it's a great move for us in the current circumstances for the future of the team. But I'm still sad to see him go.

He was really great in his prime. Remember that we went to the CL final (and knocked out Barca 3-0 :coffee:

) with a midfield of Pjanic-Khedira. Pjanic in his 2 peak seasons did everything in midfield, post-Marchisio he was our best midfielder in every single aspect except goals.

Generally his trajectory in these last 2 declined seasons is a really hot start of the season, then a sharp decline by January. The last 2 games he looks back to form (maybe with the move confirmed he is more focused?), but then it's hard to say because the whole team looks excellent.

It's a group effort no doubt, but his contributions outweigh most if not all of the other players. Take away his goals and we wouldn't probably be in the position we are today.

This doesn't take anything away from the other guys who are killing themselves as well, but Ramos is Ramos. Simply irreplaceable.
